ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

yeah i would have to say act 2100 if you want it to feel stock but can hold to higher HP, my friend has it in his 93 talon tsi and it is real nice.

i just got a spec stg 3 in my 92 awd and the pedal is almost effortless, i had a 91 nissan sentra and its just about as easy as that, i would defin. recommend a stage 2 for a fwd not to mention my clutch was shipped to my door from titan motorsports for 310 but that was with 2nd day air.

Martin,
I plan on running the Spec Stage 2+.
Is this the same as the competition stage 2 that you were referring too?
I also plan on getting a lightweight flywheel.
RRE offers a service for lightening a 2g stock flywheel down to around 14 lbs from 19lbs.
I will install a scatter shield just for piece of mind, and to also protect my investment.
I've noticed on your sight that you guys offer a few different flywheels.
Out of the ones you have listed, I'm leaning toward the Exedy Aluminum Flywheel.
I like the clutch master FW because it has a replaceable friction surface.

Can you recommend a flywheel for a 2g GST eventually on a 50 trim with a Torsen type lsd?
Thanks,
Strm Trpr

i'll tell you i just got myself a competition clutch with their street light flywheel. Not too light, just a bit lighter than stock.

The Competition stage 2 featurs a woven organic disk with a 2100lbs pressure plate that will offer great pedal pressure and wouldn't be overwhelming from your FWD like i feel the 2600 is. I know, i ran one in my 98 GST for a while and wasn't happy with it at all.

For a mild to semi wild fwd i like the competition stage 2 with the street lite flywheel. if you have specific questions you would like answered please feel free to PM me or hell call the shop if you like. we'd be happy to help you choose the right setup for you.

It would be my daly driver (weekend driver)
but I don't drag race a lot.
normaly I just race on a redlight or highway.

which one would you reccomend?

thanks a lot ;)

First off, street racing = bad. But you're probably going to want a ACT 2600, or a 2100 depending on future HP upgrades, leg strength, and how traffic is there.

I'm going to agree with this guy. Street racing is a big no no and you're just going to end up with tickets, somebody getting hurt, or losing your license. As for a clutch an ACT 2100 would be fine if your not too hard on the car, otherwise go with a 2600.

ACT's are good clutches but if you are looking to save money, those XTD stage 3 clutch kits on ebay hold up halfway decent. I've used them before and no complaints so far. Before you spend the money on the ACT's, check out the SBR clutchs. I've got the SBR 3500 and I'm hooked on them. Great all-around clutch.

I know my question sound to be stupid, but I've used alot of type of clutchs, 1st started to use 2600 with street disk then 2900 with street disk it holded about 500 wheel hp but then slipped from while to while because as you know the drag always let the clutch slip because it puts alot of strees on the clutch, then used 2900 with 6 puck disk and slipped that again because the pressure wasn't that good from slipping the street disk for 4-5 times, I wanted something to last for a year or two year and wanted to rise the hp more than 547 wheel hp, so used 3200 with 6 puck disk, I have alot of chatter and I don't want to use the street disk then slip the clutch again, I have a problem which I break the 2nd gear while a wheel spin with 350 wheel hp in my Colt and then break the tranny with 480 wheel hp in 4th gear run on the dyno, I contacted JS because he made my tranny racing as much as possible, he said I should change the oil to RED LINE shock proof or to use the mix as SBR recomanded, right now I'm using pure BG not the mix, BG ultra gaurd 75w-90, He said the 6 puck disk with 3200 is very stiff on the weak FWD tranny, so I thought I might change the clutch to PTT clutch or Devo Tune clutch which are almost the same clutch.

Which one is better ACT 3200 with street disk or 3200 with 6 puck disk or PTT twin plate clutch?

I know the twin plate will hold more, less strees on the tranny, better ET and shift at high rpm, drivebility not that good will feel like racing car more than street car, the same for 6 puck because it has chatter, the twin plate doesn't have chatter but have like release bearing sound at idle.

Do you really think if I move to PTT clutch insted of ACT 3200 with 6 puck disk then my tranny might not break and will shortage the time of breaking?

I feel the oil will help more than the clutch, and I don't want to buy two sets of PTT clutch then don't feel anything and break it again and again

I don't have money for AWD tranny and I hate the AWD tranny, I don't want to use any other type of clutchs because others costs alot and I don't money right now for good twin plate, so I'll stay with ACT or move to PTT.

Help me out if the PTT will be better than ACT 6 puck and less stress on the tranny and better drivebillity than the ACT 6 puck, right now I have chatter with 6 puck, with 2900 and 6 puck disk didn't notice hard 6 puck chatter, I hate chatter and can't quit drag racing.

I want something very street and less strees on the tranny.
Does the 3200 clutch with street disk will hold the power I'm looking for?

Thanks

Running a street/ strip car which will probably be daily driven. I will be running 510cc, small 16g, IC Piping, Supra Side Mount and Dsm link ect. I am Wondering which clutch I should use? I will probably keep the sotck flywheel also.. Any help or opinions would be awesome!

2100

The 2100 will be nice on the stock flywheel and daily driving and you never wanna go too big with a daily driver. 3500 would be going "too big" for a daily driver. So go with the 2100 clutch until you get a new flywheel and/or more mods, or if you get a beater so you can build your car up, that's what I wanted to do.

Hi, I dropped my tranny to do a rear main seal. I found out my clutch was also fried when I dropped it. I currently have an intake, 3" exhaust and a 14b. I do not have any plans to further mod it, as I sold alot of my parts and no longer race. Would it be a bad idea to buy a cheap clutch from autozone or advanced since I no longer race? How are the quality on these? I really dont have the money to spend on an act2100 but I would buy it if the autozone clutches are complete trash. Thanks, Brian

In the long run the 2100 would be the best choice but the OEM won't hurt either. You will end up replacing the OEM sooner but as long as your not racing anymore it should serve your purpose.

But with the OEM part, you know you have that favorite stop light, where you say I wanna do a quick 1-2 gear pull, well that launch everyonce and awhile will kill the OEM faster than the 2100, and the 2100 is not that much more expensive.
