ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

I have an ACT 2100, and love it. I've had no problems, besides a calf muscle workout from the added force. My ACT was recommended to me by a few local DSM'ers with years of experience, and I can see why it's been a mainstay in the DSM community for years.

i want to spend around 300-400 dollars for my clutch...what is the best clutch to get in that price range? Also is a steel braided clutch line and slave extension rod worth buying?

For that price range I would recomend an act 2100. I'm not sure how far you are going to go with your mods, but the 2100 will handle anything that you will throw at it for a while. As far as the steel braided line, there won't be a massive difference. However it would be one less thing to have to worry about for a while. The slave extension rod is nothing but trouble so I would stay away from that.

so the 2100? ive heard that is a good one...ive also been told the specs were good.....if i was to get an act 2100 do u know where the cheapest place to get it would be?

DSMotorsports sells the 2100 kit for $335.00. http://www.diamondstarmotorsport.com/drivelineparts.shtml

They are a reliable source for parts in my experience.

Also, just thought I would mention -- I ran an ACT2100 setup on my 91 FWD and loved it. I have a 2600 on my GSX now, but it has been giving me some headaches. Probably due to a faulty install, so that is neither here nor there. ACT makes a good clutch for the money.

I went with the ACT 2100 clutch...for some good reasons.

Its a good D.D clutch...its perfect for cruising on the street, and can take a good beating without wearing to quickly. and its a good price.:thumb:

I am currently in the middle of putting a ACT 2600 in(this is the 2nd day). I did a lot of research looking at old threads, and other wbesites for reviews and this one seemed the best for me. The ACT 2100 is also a good choice if you take it to the track less. I went with a street disc in the clutch kit also. According to my buddy who has gone through several DSMs and clutches in his life, the slave extension rod "can really save you" when putting in an aftermarket clutch. I can't remember the exact way he explained it to me, but its not a necessity, but I think he said it makes the increased clutch pedal pressure less severe.

The extended slave rod helps with disengagement, which usually stems from a worn pedal assembly. I don't think its the correct way to solve the problem, but whatever works.

Yeah it is a band-aid.......what you should do is replace the clutch fork and fulcrum. As for clutch decision, I have an ACT 2600 and love it. Pedal has a nice feel to it, nothing insane like I originally thought it would be.

After doing some reasearch Im going with the centerforce dual friction clutch. Supposed to hold abit more power/torque then the 2100 setup, has like stock pedal pressure & be the same or abit less pressure on the thrust bearing. Which is one of the main reason Im going with in on my 7bolt 2g. A couple places have recommended it, including RRE. Most people that have it love it & the few that didn't were probably because they didn't follow the break in proceedure properly. My old man has one of these clutches in his 67 Camaro, which makes a dyno proven just over 500 hp & 435 ft/lb and its holding no problem so...

centerforce is a good choice. The price is reasonable too. I have one on my 90gsx and have no complaints.

Ok, I'll be needing a clutch in the near future. My question is, should i stay stock or no? If not, what clutch should I buy? I'm only going to be around the 250whp hopefully by spring. I don't want a "racing clutch" but something better than stock. Any ideas on what I should get? How much more are the prices of aftermarket clutches compared to stock ones?

It seems a good clutch for you if you do choose aftermarket would be an ACT 2100 with a street disc. I personally have not used one ( I have a 2600) but the 2100 is good for holding more power than stock and is supposed to be very close to stock pedal pressure and everything. Again, since I have never used that clutch, maybe someone with a ACT 2100 or similar clutch could back me up.

Hey im just about to get going on my 5-speed swap what clutch do you recommend me to buy. I am looking for a street oriented clutch something that can hold up some hp increase but not have a heavy pedal feel. Almost looking for something that has a similar pedal feel to stock and im looking only for a street disk. I was thinking ACT 2100 or something along those lines if anyone has any suggestions would appreciate it thanks. Also the car is a 92 TSI FWD
