Which BOV? [Merged 3-8] what bov best bov

I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

I am going to be maxing an evo III 16g (so around 25 lbs of boost) and will be upgrading in a few years. What BOV would be around two hundred and easy to install that ouwld meet my needs? I am probably not going blow thru

Ehh hard to say. I've seen some 1gs hold 25lbs, crushed and uncrushed. I would usually recommend a Greddy but I have seen them leak at 24-26lbs of boost. Your going to get mixed feelings with this thread because usually everyone has different results.

I have an HKS and it doesn't leak at 25 psi. I haven't ran it past that so I don't know if it would leak or not. I doubt it would though considering many people on here run them past 30-35 psi. The HKS can be recirculated and I've seen them for around $200

The 1g bov should be good enough for your application. It does not have the "bling bling" factor but it does what its supposed to and well.

Another possibility is the Forge BOV. We have a local guy running around here pushing out 26lbs of boost without it leaking. Or hell, just buy a brand new 1g BOV from a vendor. They run about 90 bucks. Can't beat it.

Just about every BOV. I would get a HKS SSQV or Greddy Type S . I love the greddy sweet sounds . But there are alot of reports of the type-s leaking above 25psi. I havent heard of anyone's HKS leaking. And the sound is awesome.

You can always get a 1g crushed and they will hold till 25 psi.

If you are going to go with a blow-through setup I would recommend the "tial" BOV. They have been proven to hold boost at really high psi!!

okay So i have a 95 Eagle talon awd
and i have a 1g Bov on there now, which is not loud enough for me anymore
i really Like the HKS S I love the way it sounds but i think you have to vent with that and then i heard if you dont vent with it it doesn't sound the same SO MY QUESTION IS
simply what Bov will be good to get that i can recirculate with too???

well, Greddy Type S will sound a lot better than the silent 1g BOV.

I don't know about anyone else, but my 1g BOV is plenty loud for me. I think other mods like an UICP and hard intake piping with a open air filter adds to the sounds. I can easily hear my BOV inside the car when I'm daily driving.

Yeah, my recirced 1G CBV is loud enough for me... but I'm not really into loud "BOV-like" sounds.

Yeah, hard upper pipes, hard intake w/open filter will definitely set it off.

The RFL BOV is the loudest...dunno if you can recirculate it, though.

I'm switching my 1G BOV out for a Forge Motorsports BOV. I've heard good stuff about it.

Turbo XS makes a version of the RFL that is able to recirculate. Its called the Type-H, but its not as loud becuase it dont have the horn on the end of it.

The bypass will deaden the sound. Try to make as much piping Metal as possible. Even try to make the bypass tube metal. Thats the only way you are going to get the sound by bypassing

I'll tell you this. Guy's (you can ask to verify; i.e. the_jester) can hear me a block away with the Dodge Garage mod. It has the added benefit of holding to 30 psi, if you so choose or your turbo/system is up to it.

I promise you the CA-chiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-OOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW! will get you waht you want. This mod delivers. And since you have the 1g bov already, it is pretty much Free!

Granted I run bolwthru, but if you can hea me a block away venting to the atmoshere, then you'll certainly be loud enough for making any impression you want for those listening to you in drawthrough.

I ran that recirculation kit on my HKS SSQV. When recirculating it, it did quiet it down a bit, but it did not silence it, it was still loud, but didnt have that signiture HKS scream.

There were times where I just vented for the hell of it... car ran perfect either way. Here's a video of my old 2g with the HKS SSQV, with the recirc insert, venting to atmosphere. (the video is mostly for exhaust note, but you can her the BOV too)

well since we are kinda talking about getting a good sound out of recirculating BOVs then since im going full hardpipe with a TYPE RS, wil i get a good sound or doesn anyone even know what a Type Rs sounds like

one thing I noticed that really perked up the sound of my BOV was when I go an intake, as long as youre not dumping into the stock rubber intake, anything metal will echo a schweet BOV sound, especially being dumped into the intake through a metal pipe.
