Hey everyone,

Anyone know the easiest way to check the fuel pressure in a 1g talon? I didn’t see any easy access to the supply line or the return. Need to see if my fuel pump needs to be replaced or if it’s something else.

Best,
Cody

There is no easy way if you are bone stock. It's easiest to check on the fuel return side. If you're good at welding, you can tap the fuel rail with an 1/8NPT fitting and install a gauge or buy a fuel pressure regulator kit that you can use as a source to measure the FP.

Damn, yeah not too great at welding. How would I go about it on the return? Would I need to add in a bit of tubing with a valve to check? Is there a way to make it permanent? Or if I wanted to go that route would I have to do the welding?

Since it has a banjo fitting, it is on top of your fuel filter.
Please correct me if I am wrong @pauleyman .

Crush washers if they are not supplied.

Yeah I really shouldn’t have said that. It’s been sitting for 22 years untouched
Is it running currently? If not I can tell you that fuel pump is almost certainly dead. Last one I pulled from a car that was sitting was so bad it was completely shorted internally. And that was a 5 or 6 year sit outside.

We just tried starting it for the first time after doing a bunch of run of the mill maintenance but no dice. We can hear and feel the fuel pump working but are going to check to see if there is an issue with spark and and then see if we have proper pressure. It was sitting in a garage in Michigan for 22 years with like 5 gallons in the tank. When we drained that gas it looked completely normal with no rust or debris and no visual signs of rust near the gas cap or down the hosing either.

Should have drained the gas first IMO and put something fresh in there. Secondly, you didn't state whether you verified fuel pressure at the rail. Normally, when a fuel sock and pickup sit in gasoline for that long, everything gets corroded especially if it was not in a temperature controlled environment. First thing that should have been done is completely drain the fuel tank, possibly inspect the fuel pump and strainer and replace the fuel filter. I just went through with a buddy resurrecting a Stealth that had been sitting for 15+ years. You don't want to run gunk through your fuel injectors. So, check whether you're getting any fuel into the cylinders. Removal of one spark plug should show this then work your way backwards.
