I just recently had a motor built for my car and I've set the FPR at 30psi with the vacuum line attatched. It still seems to be getting way too much fuel because after about 10 miles the plugs were black. I have 850cc injectors and DSMLink. I know I need to get a wideband but is there a way to dial in my fuel alittle better without one? Should I just turn the fp down? Check out my profile for entire list of mods. Thanx guys!

Nice mod list.

Does the carbon on the plugs cause the enigne to misfire? I have seen civic's with 350-400Whp do the same thing during dyno tuning, killing the plugs like that and they werent running too rich. If the carbon isnt hurting your engine performance then I wouldnt worry about it too much. Just keep a set in your trunk in case they decide to crap on you.

I wouldnt want to turn the fuel down too much on a setup like that, you might melt a piston running to lean.

The most common method for setting your base fuel pressure is with the vacuum line to the regulator disconnected. You other 1G-ers can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it should be 38 psi. Just plug the line with your finger while you adjust it. I have my base pressure at about 44 psi and it reads 34 with the vacuum line on. That might be why you're a little fat.

Well, I'm not sure if the plugs being black are whats causing the sputtering or not. In first gear at 3k RPM, at about 5psi of boost I get a really bad sputtering, the same at 2nd just not as bad. 3rd gear barely sputters but its still there, thats what I'm trying to fix right now.

I know LOTS of dsm'rs have had this problem so I figured I'd start with the plugs. When I found out they were extremely carbon blacked I assumed it was too much fuel causing the blackening and the sputtering.

So I put in some new plugs and I'm going to adjust my fp, do some runs with DSMLink and log it, then I'll be back.
