Well, I'm off to the track here in a bit. Hopefully I can pull off a 12. Adjusted fuel and timing to try and rid the knock from my last visit. Ran a 13.1@99 last time having to lift twice due to a bunch of knock.

Trapped 144 last time out-yes I am in 4th :)

Show off! LOL

Finally brought my turd out into the light!

I run with MT ET Slicks. 24.5 x 8.5 I think. Anyways, today was pretty disappointing. Wasted a ton of time trying to convince the tech lady that my helmet was made in 2005. Then it started getting hot. I was tuning in between runs to get rid of knock and I did, but at the expense of all my timing. I think I'm peaking at 7 degrees.

My best run was a 13.0@104 I think. Was hitting the rev limiter in 3rd. 60ft sucked, 2.0. Could only 1.9 all day no matter what I did. I think the track was tore up from the midnight street drags the night before because I was cutting 1.8's the past wednesday easily.

I think the other two runs were 13.1 and 13.2. Pretty sad performance for a 20g at 25psi. My AFR's are 11.2 then 10.9 in the upper rpm's to combat knock.

Street shoes as pictured are 16" and looking to see if I can get some slicks on 15s to clear my brake setup.

Haha I was talking to the other gst guy.....

Your build is above anything ill ever do so all I can say is it looks good...

So close with a 13.0 but 104mph Your way down on power or you weight 3600lbs...the 60' isn't the best but its way better than my 2.1-2.3's...

I'm running n 104 with a t28 at like 18psi

Oh LOL well I am certainly not above input from other racers and on that note here goes!

No clue where you got that info, you can easily fit pretty much any 16s (the GSX "big" brakes came with 16" wheels from the factory). You can even clear some 15s with the right offset.

Alright so since it came up, and this is precisely where I am getting hung up in the search for some new wheels..

I have a 1G FWD with 2G GSX 2 pot calipers and ~11" Rotors on the front, and for now stock suspension/spring perches to deal with.

The wheels on the car currently are 16x8 / 4.5" Backspace with 225/50/16 RS3s.

As a result it looks retarded, complete monster truck stance. So those who have experience, please chime in on my plan for a setup the next time around.

Street - A 15x8 or 15x7 wheel with the widest tire (min. 225mm) that will work on all 4 corners with a stock style suspension, while clearing the GSX front brakes and not poking a good 25mm out from the body work.

If this is not possible, I'd appreciate an alternate with a wheel no bigger than 16"

Strip -

Back wheels are going to be 15x4 1.75" BS with one of the following tire sizes:
26x4.5x15
27x4.5x15

Front wheels should be somewhere in the range of a 15x8 - 15x10 and ideally the widest 26" diameter slick that can be fit. But the offset to clear the brakes and the tire width to clear the perch are what elude me at the moment.

I've been scouring the forum now for a few days and it seems that every time I hit on a combination there's always one detail missing.

If my rev limit wasnt set at 7250 that probably woulda been the 12.

The other two runs were 13.3@102 and 13.1@107.

On the 13.3 I shifted into 4th to see if I could pick up MPH. Instead it just knocked like crazy and I might as well have lifted.

On the 13.1 it was a full pull. Rev limit was 7500 and it didn't bounce. Still slow though.

I think I'm going to go to one of the midnight drags to try and get a 12 out of this crappy ass pump gas one more time. Then I will never go to the track on pump gas again in my life.

Love this build, looks freaking insane!!! Also, how thick of sheet metal you used for your from bumper?

How heavy is your car and what tire pressure you running?

I was running 13 psi both today and Wednesday when I was getting 1.8's with nothing more then a tire scrub. I think today the prep just wasn't as good.

My car is full weight with a 10in sub and box in the back. Nothing has been removed.

I'm currently working the tune and have someone helping me with the timing map. My VE map is getting close to being right on so all I have to do is adjust target AFR in link.

I also want to run my intake into the fender well so it can stop sucking hot air.

Here's a vid of one of my runs from my first time out.

Geez that crazy you guys are staying in 3rd across the traps. Even with my 14b setup, fwd 2g trans, 24.5x8s I was shifting in 4th right before the 1/8. But with this setup I couldnt get the 24.5x8s to stick anymore. Even at 7psi. I did switch to an m&h 24.5x8.5 and that helped me a little bit more. Was able to run an extra lb of air.

I ran a 12.0@122 bogging the 1-2 shift badly and this was on only 20psi! That was 4th gear at 7200rpm!! I am running a awd trans though. Looking for some 26" slicks now!

Ya you pretty much have to run 26s with the awd trans to make up for the ratio.

I was breaking the FWD trannies crazy fast! I did a lot of reading and seems the awd trans is way stronger in fwd trim. So that is what I am doing. I like the closer ratio so far.

Tough luck I guess. I had really good luck with my stock 220k mile tranny. Held up to 680whp and a bunch of 10sec passes. Along with constant street abuse tuning and stuff.

The longer gearing really helps the car hook. But if it works for you, stick with it! Good luck
