Anyone have any updates? I'm currently swapping on a ported 2g exhaust manifold, ported 7cm hotside, non-turbo ported t/b, ACT clutch kit with streetlite flywheel, ETS 3.5" race intercooler kit, built head and all new belts on my car right now. Hoping to get it running on E85 and the Evo 8 ECU once I get all this stuff swapped, however, I do need to have the balance shafts removed as well. I'm guessing I won't have all my stuff done until early next year due to work and travel for the holidays.

Well i just ran my junk tonight best pass was 15.0 @ 96mph full weight and the mods being open down pipe evo III manifold and only 9lbs....The clutch was slipping really bad in 3rd as well, i cant wait to throw on my 16g/fmic/clutch/DSMlink......:sneaky:

Not too bad. But the Laser should have more in it. I went 14.8 in my 90 Laser. Only "mods" were NGK spark plugs and the cone drilled off the stock airbox. Good job and post up more times when you get a chance to get back out.

I took my DD out to the track today. It's a 1990 Laser RS, turbo fwd. It's still on the original engine with 276k miles on it. Short mods list is E3 16G, ported ex mani, E3 O2 housing, full exhaust with a quiet muffler, 2G maf, ETS street fmic kit, Denso 660 injectors, 91 octane and of course an EPROM ECU with one of my chips. The car weighs 2745 with me in it.

The last time I raced the Laser was about 3 years ago and my best time was 14.1 with nearly the same mods. Today I had a pair of lightweight slicks on the car and it made a nice difference. My best time was
60'- 1.95
1/8-8.2 @89.78mph
1/4-12.707 @110.46mph

Not bad for a commuter car that is currently averaging over 40 MPG.
I really enjoyed driving it home. I was able to dial in the tune through the day so it was pulling extremely well on the way home.

how much boost was this on? i figured that was you when i saw it driving. my best pass of the day was a 12.0@119 couldn't get a good 60ft. best of the day was a 1.8. Finally got to weigh my car. came in at 3230 without driver so 3450 with me in it.

Crazy how heavy these little turds are! LOL

Nice job Dave. Amazing what suspension will do for you! Can't wait to get mine up and running. Pretty crazy it's on the stock motor with 276k and still running that strong!

Hey what's up!
I saw your car out there. You had some strong runs! Dam, 119 mph on a full weight 2G is good power.
I was running 22psi of boost with a little knock.

Yes it felt strong, but I could tell it's not a fresh engine anymore. I'd really like to rebuild it, but it just won't blow! The dam thing keeps running! Compression is still 150 across all 4. Dammmmm!!!!

hahah that shows whos a better driver... ### wen i wasnt tune on 10 psi on a 16g turbo i was hitting a 14.2 on street tires.... wen i finally tune the car i was hitting 13.5 ..... but i sold that car .. and know i have an another gst 2.4L stroker fully built and plannin to take it soon to the track..........shaowwwwwwwwwwww

hey spawnedx - i would almost bet 250whp on any dyno close to me would go 13.5 on street tires. just because you only ran a 13.9 doesn't mean someone else cant run better. A lot more goes into it than the fact two cars are at 250whp and on "street" tires. He might be on a 555r street tire compared to a Michelin summer tire. 555r will get better traction. and you might make 250hp at 5500rpm where he makes it at 6200rpm. Those two alone can make a huge difference. And thats leaving driver ability out of it.

He doesn't have 250 WHP, I do, he has 220 WHP. I was using Nitto NT05's, which I promise you are better than 555r's. He can't provide a time slip, that speaks for itself. Especially when we are talking about FWDs here.

why gettin all sad for???.... just because u have a higher whp than me it doesnt mean i need to be getting higher than 13.9.... i think u werent launchin it right or something?.... it shows that im a good driver for me hitting those number on 220whp

The horsepower is all speculation without a dynograph, and the 1/4 times will have no weight without a timesllip. We all know the amount of traction possible on a FWD with street tires... which is next to nothing.

So its a fruitless battle without ammo.

No it shows you are a liar, similar 1/4 mile times show cars in the 300+ WHP range for FWD 2Gs. You can check the list yourself. Making these things up not only makes you look like a fool, but leads new members in the wrong direction.

For anyone reading this, please diregard this persons comments. You aren't going to hit mid 13's on FWD with a measly 48 HP boost and street tires.

And before anyone asks, drivetrain loss on a FWD 2G is about 15%, that means stock we put about 178.5 or 179 WHP down out of the 210 the engine produces. to make 220 WHP we need to make about 258 to 259 HP at our brake. 258-210 = 48.

Remember, a dyno is a tuning tool, not something to race with on the forums. The dyno he went to might only show him making 160whp bone stock. That said, 220whp would give him around 60whp more and around 75 more crank hp. Cut some 2.1 60' times and I have no doubt it would do it. I hate bench racing with dyno numbers more than anything. Unfortunately it's everywhere. That's why I love the low reading dynos around the area. My Evo went 12.1 @ 113 w/ 308whp. No one thought it was possible in a 3500lb car with a 200lb driver. Guess what, I did it about 4 times on two different outings. Everyone on the other forums had to get into the 350whp range to even get close. But when the local dynos put an Evo 9 in the 230whp range bone stock and the other guys on the forums are putting down 265-270whp stock, you can see where the problem lies with the numbers.

If he didn't do it then it's on his character. Just state that you don't think it's possible and move on.

The way you word this makes it sound like you are overlooking that this is FWD on street tires. 13.9 on my build is considered exceptional. I did it with ECMLink with launch control. The ONLY way this was happening on stock tires was if the car was completely gutted with one hell of a suspension setup. Even then I find it quite subject.

I am sorry, but if I had a 13.5 pass on street tires on my GST, I would have framed that damn slip, yet this guy can't provide one. Mostly because it is a lie. It's not fair to the new people joining this forum to get false information, and it is even more unfair for others, including a vendor, to entertain this as possible. Because it just sets them up for disappointment.

If you really want to go fast with FWD you should really look into a tune by gear set up to avoid spinning your tire as much as possible. A lot of Honda guy's do this and apparently it helps a lot.

I'd really look at other forums and see what they are doing.

spawned - how do you feel about a 1G? do you think a 1G with street tires and 220whp should be have a similar run as a 2G with the same power? Reason I ask is because I'm currently working on my 1G right now. I don't mind tuning it on 91 to around 220whp and running it a few times on street tires to see what it will do. That way I'll know and I will gladly post up a slip regardless of what it runs. It will probably be next year before it's done due to the holidays and me traveling a lot between now and mid February, but I'm up for it!

So here's an update for next season!
But I need some advice!

My tokico struts are finished in the rear, and I need to get her retuned.

So heres what I was thinking:
Tein ss all around with a new tune and maybe up the boost,(e316g)

And as for te traction portion what do you guys think about the bfgs in 225/45/17? Will these stick??
