what valves to use 1g head

Its been awhile since I have been on here. I had some issues I cant for the life of me figure out. So I took a break from the car for a bit. Iv been thinking about it for the last few weeks and I really miss my car haha. Anyways last time I was messing with the car my father came over and was helping me fix some faulty wiring. We also decided to switch out the head for a better condition one with Intact threads and we had it resurfaced and hot-tanked. We are changing the valve seals and guides and the valves. Im changing the valves because we noticed some pits in all of them. But the pistons look fine. Any reason that happens? I also found out that they were not what I was told. There are (Race) or something like that. Only place I seen them was ebay. My mod list is up to date other then valve brand. So my question is what valves should I look into? My end goal I would like to one day be at with this car is 550-600hp.

I'd get a set of Enginbldr valves off eBay. He sells a kit with bronze valve guides too. They're nice looking valves! I've got 2 sets at the housing waiting for a couple different builds.

Pitting in the valve face is not uncommon, nor in the seat.

Make sure the are factory "6T" valves or stainless.

I would not trust an aftermarket replacement valve in a turbo head.

So your saying you wouldnt trust Supertech valves? I hope not because thats what I bought awhile ago for a head rebuild.

As for Enginbldr on ebay, I can never find his valves. Everytime I look I come up empty

No, SuperTech valves are a stainless, I prefer other brands over ST valves tho.
Engnbldr does run out from time to time, but he tries to keep them in stock, you just have to keep checking.

The manleys are a fine valve, Along with BC or Ferrea and Engnbldr, all are a forged one piece valve with a polished back.

Ok thanks Bogus. Guess Ill look into getting better valves for a built head and use the Supertech for a stock rebuild. Ill try and keep my eyes out for Enginbldr aswell

I'm using SuperTech Nitride valves, yet to be able to tell you if they are good or bad though.

Yes, they will be just fine, I have lost count how many sets I have installed over the years, and not just in 4G heads, but Small blocks too and the Ford 2300, and a few classic Ford FE builds.

Keep in mind that the ID of the guide will need a finish hone and the seats cut to index the seat to guide centerline.

You will have some small amount due to PTW clearance

If you're doing a stock rebuild or mild build, I can source these valves and meet or beat prices from engnbldr.

I have the engnbldr valves in my head for almost 4yrs now. Car was trapping 130 before I finally broke a wrist pin. Have had 0 issues with these valves as of yet.

I remember using some PEP valves for OE replacement in one shop I worked in years ago.

I will forever stay with Ferrera valves on any of my builds from now on. I used Super-Tech's for many years, and this past year I had pistons contact the head. They broke off and took out the pistons.

Anybody ever hear of Rev brand valves? (Racing Engine Valves). The other day I was looking at my valves cause I still haven't put the head together yet. I noticed that they had "rev" sramped on then so I tried to Google them but not to much info. Also almost all the exhaust valves have very little pits on the heads. I really don't want to spend $180+ on new ones if these are sufficient for my build and still in working condition. Any info or ideas?

Rev are a decent valve, IIRC they were some of the first for imports.

Take the valves to a machine shop if they are used and have them ground so you have new valve faces to work with.
