If I run a 3'' gm maf, I need a maf tranlator right? Then what is this pigtail good for?

Yes, if you run a GM MAF, you need a MAF translator.

That pigtail is for the GenII. I'm not familiar with that one so it may come with the pigtail if you were to buy it new. That just may be for someone who doesn't have one.

If you just get the basic vehicle specific translator, it comes ready to plug in and use. And if used in conjunction with DSMlink, doesn't require changing any settings.

Here's the MAF Translator website with the different versions they offer:

Ok after reading most of this thread, and my brain starting to hurt, I'm going to put this out there for you:

Here's what you should get:
1) DSMLink / Eprom ECU (which you said you have)
2) a QUALITY boost gauge (I assume you have)
3) a wideband (which you said you have)
4) MAFT / 3" LT1 GM MAS
The air meter from the LS1 works good to but it seems, in my experience anyway, that the LT1 air meter is a little bit more accurate, even though the guy at the Chevrolet dealership says there the same air meter, I disagree.
5) Coper heat shield if your putting your wideband o2 sensor in the o2 housing location
6) Build a boost leak tester and test often....

I just got a 3'' gm maf. and yes I have the dsmlink, lc1 wideband with db gauge. Your right I need to make a boost leak tester. I put the o2 bung after the flex pipe. The air meter you are talking about, that is a MAP sensor right?
