What do I need to get DSMLink?

i have a 92 talon tsi and i was wondering what i need to do to get started to put a dsm link in my car and is it worth it and were can i get the dsm link at?

First, you need to see if your ECU has EPROM. Since your a '92, most likely, you'll have one. If you don't, then you'll need to get one. It's also recommended that you get a wideband to aid in tuning. And as it being worth it. YES, it is definitely worth it. Being able to control fuel, timing, etc. is definitely worth the price. I just bought it a few weeks ago, and since I started tuning with it, I've noticed a big difference. The ability to add timing up top keeps the power going to redline. As for purchasing it, I got it from ExtremePSI. It was a reasonable price, and shipping was prompt.

Well it all depends what your plans are for your car. I have link in mine and am going to be running a 50 trim. I think that it was worth every penny I spent for it. Alot of different features make it easy to tune with. I would check out the vendors page I would say that most of them sell it. Tell them you are part of tuners they might even through you a discount.

DSMlink is a very good tuning program but if you are short of cash you could go with a program called DSmap. It gives you the same tuning features as DSMlink but for half the price. This is what my brother and I run and it is a very good program. Here is a link that tells a lot more about the program.

im sorry but how can i tell if my ecu already has a eprom?

The eprom ecu will have an E on the outer cover or if you crack it open you will see a chip in the lower right hand corner.

im sorry guys i went to the dsm link homepage and i was wondering what socketed service ment to my eprom i take it i havent had it done to my car so i do i have to send it in first befour i get my dsm link?

The socket service means that you will have to send your ECU into ECMtuning and they will remove the stock chip from the board and solder in a 28-pin socket in its place. The sockets design means that any EPROM chip can be inserted and removed without soldering/desoldering the chip everytime. Then ECMtuning will install the DSMlink chip into the socket and send it back to you. My ECU was already socketed when I bought it, so I have no idea on the amount of turn around time it takes. An alternative to this is finding someone locally to socket your ECU, then just buy the EPROM chip and install it yourself. It only takes 10 minutes to do. Simply remove the old chip and replacing it with the new chip.

Yes, rather then the chip being soldered to the board, you solder in a socket, so that chips can be put in and removed easily:

Eprom only means it has a chip to begin with, so it has the holes needed to solder in the socket.

And also DSmap, isn't equal to link.
