Walked by the car sitting in the garage collecting dust, decided I missed driving it and finally ordered a stupid alternator so I can get it back on the road again. Fingers crossed delivery comes Tuesday as Rock Auto promised so I can have it up and running for a small road trip Wednesday...

That's all? Just an alternator?

Mines been collecting dust and sits in my garage without a cylinder head because I've been too busy to pull the rest and disassemble.

Last night I got the engine all wired up and sitting right enough to make sure everything is legit. Fired right up.

You know my post got me thinking that itd be kind of neat if someone could CNC a lip guard that goes around the flange of the pan with holes that line up allowing a torque happy installer to protect the pan... and even help straighten a wavy pan on install.

Just an idea... no way to produce it though on my end. I know the thick flange on my trans pan is pretty much torque proof. Youll strip the trans pan holes before dimpling it.

You can dimple the pan easily if you are using a gasket.

If youre not using a gasket and just grey RTV the most important step in the process is letting it cure for atleast 12 hours without exposure to oil. If you are thorough it shouldnt leak again

So last week I ran across a Magnus fuel rail for sale and I jumped on it. Got it in the mail yesterday.

Friend texted me yesterday and was in need of some hydraulic fittings for his skid steer. After some back and forth figured out it would be best if I just had the hoses and fittings to take to the hydraulic hose store I used to work at.

I took the fuel rail with me to show him my score and mentioned I was still trying to track down an intake and how everyone was wanting stupid money for JMF and Magnus intake.

He just says "Here" bends over and grabs a JMF intake he had been trying to sell, rips his price tag sticker off, and continues "Merry Christmas."

I was a little stunned and asked if he was sure, he insisted. He said, "You're all the time helping me out and getting me hoses and fittings. I've been trying to sell this thing forever and rather than have it sitting around longer I'd rather give it you to help get your car going."

I asked again if he was sure and he emphatically said yes.

Cleaned it up a little and took a quick pic of it with the rail.

What's an intake manifold between friends? Lol the good Lord repays in kind.

Mine decided right before I said everything is goodw to go that it would start cutting out at 4000 Rpms so swore at it a few times contemplated selling it or parting it out
Then started looking everything over fuel related and no luck now on to chasing spark

Finally installed my hx35 with a TS Morrison Fab exhaust manifold set up. Still need to do a bunch of other things but its progress. Hopefully she’ll be running by the end of this year.

Anybody close to Denton Tx that knows how to weld aluminum? Thanks.

Been busting my booty today, but I crossed a ton off the list. Ran out of sunlight, and the Tsunami of mosquitos arrived so I had to stop. But here's a little teaser.

Had to make a concession, or two, but honestly...I'm done waiting. Tomorrow's agenda is hopefully a little shorter, and will end with one big thing.

First start. :D

I hadn't touched the car is a few weeks. Had hit a patch of demotivation. After I was given the intake earlier this week it had reignited my drive.

I got up this morning and ran to work to get caught up on some things first. Stopped at the store, came home, got some lunch, then was vegging a little.

Told myself to get moving, so got up to start and actually started on the Lancer first. Put the driver side tie rod on it, did a tool reset then started on the Talon.

Did tie rods on it, tightened up the sway bar links, and tightened down the ball joint nuts.

I then proceeded to locate hardware to replace the missing hardware for the crossmembers to get bolted back in. Got all that gathered and bolted them back in then I wanted to see something.

Mocked it up, but likely won't even do it because I don't want to be forced to run 17s. I'll probably just save them for the 3000 build like originally planned. LOL

I took the V calipers back off then cleaned up the hats on the rotors to paint them. Got them painted and installed, then bolted the stock calipers up.

Last thing I did was I noticed the lower rad mount had a "shell" from the old rubbers stuck in the lower supports so I grabbed a hammer and chisel and knocked them out.

Called it a night at that point. Will let the paint finish drying then put the wheels back on in the morning and the car back on the ground for the first time on a long time.

Took one last pic when I finished can't see much, but it's progress.

I think the other goal for tomorrow is to mount the intake and rail for vision and mock up purposes. I'll probably also mount the exhaust manifold and turbo so I can mock up my drain line and figure out me feed setup.

Rolled the 4 slicks to the shop (they've been sitting beside the car for what, a month now)?
I'll stack them on the tire cart tomorrow.

Did the STM egr block off plate and removed vacuum lines according to taboo speed shop write up. Tomorrow my non cruise control cable shows up and will be doing the cc delete. Still need to port match my intake manifold for the s90 tb I have. Trying to clean up the bay it's cluttered and ugly. Slow progress is better than no progress 🤷‍♂️

Finished buttoning everything up. It’s tantalisingly close, only missing some miscellaneous vacuum hoses, loop the fiav lines, and fix the wires at the ecu and it’s done.

Unfortunately the race against my body was lost, and I’ve succumbed to the sickness my wife and kid both had that I was holding off. So, progress for the next couple weeks is at a halt. Gonna order the few things I need while I suffer and work my long ems week while sick. :p

Meanwhile, put the car on the ground with the Coilovers. Think it looks really good.

I decided since I needed to crawl under the car today I would wait to put the wheels back on.

I removed a bunch if crap from the bay. Pulled the slave cylinder and line to the master. Pulled the catch can, the fuel rail, fuel lines, FPR, oil drain, starter, etc.

Once I had everything out of my way I mocked up the JMF intake and Magnus fuel rail. I then mocked up the manifold and turbo. Had to clock the turbo because the outlet was hitting the manifold. Once I had it clocked and mounted I started looking at the feed and drain.

The feed is going to be fun because of the restrictor. I'll have to 90 off it so it doesn't hit the manifold.

The drain will be fun because it will be so short. I have some -10 ptfe with a few 90s and one straight. I think I'm actually going to 45 off the the turbo and the pan both. The hose is going to be incredibly short. But it's going to work well.

Took a few pics before I wrapped up.

I have seen this on alot of sites with mustangs, hondas, volkswagen, ect... Although I've never seen one with DSM's and i thought maybe i would try it out and see if it sticks... I'll start off with what i did to mine. I cleaned up the motor bay and did a little wire tucking.
gathering parts for winter. Ordering for a catch can upgrade today

Throwing a 4” intake on instead of the 3” I had. Turbo inlet is 4”

Bought the 45° pipe for $35 it had 1/4 npt port so I have the front vc going to it. Bought the 45° coupler and clamps for $25 off Amazon. Cut a couple inches off the coupler and can use that for the homemade boost leak tester I have. The filter is an Amsoil I had laying around it just needed a good cleaning.

I have to trim the pipe a bit on the filter side because the filter is hitting the frame but for $60 and some time I can’t complain.
