So since they turfed 94oct here I'm stuck with shell 91. I'm running 21-23psi, and 10.3-5 to tame knock. That's assuming it's not more rich due to misreading sensor.
The cyclone manifold is definitely creating an airflow different than I've seen via regular 1g Manifolds
The carbon was flaking off and looked like a pie crust, except less yummy.

When I worked for a shop back in the late 70's, we would fill a pop bottle full of WATER and feed it down the throat of the carb to clean out all of that carbon build up by effectively "steam cleaning" them with water. We could never let the motor DIE or it will have a possibliity of hydrolocking so we were careful, always. I have done the same thing on our engines but fed the water in with one of the vacuum lines then gun the heck out of the engine to blow all the black carbon out of the cylinders. Very Old School but it works.

Yeah, I've just usually seen baked on carbon in my experience. This legit looked like the top of a pie crust. So light and flaky, but not from Pillsbury.
Granted I only had about 3k on it and even less using the cyclone but that Mani.. I don't know, man. Didn't feel any gains, was hell to find a good switchover point, and could have sworn I was able to make the b16g surge at 20psi/ 2k rpm (throttle down in low 5th gear) with only the short runners open, effectively half the port volume. Probably wasn't doing my rod bearings any favors there LOL

Curt, I think you would like an Evo 3 manifold, I love mine. I have 2 cyclones (one with all the accessories, TB, Coil, Acuator and the vacuum canister - was on a JDM motor) but have never used either of them. I am using my Evo 3 over a NICE sheet metal drag manifold because I like the way the motor likes it.

just got installed the cyclone intake

I had zero luck anywhere with it and all it did was totally whack out my VE table and suck fuel.

I figure that's probably my best bet. I don't hold out hope finding one and nobody down there wants to ship across the border. Guess I could do a border parcel service, but I'd really have to trust the seller.

Until then I think I will have to go back to my 1g.

Feels good to have the DSM back, but my God is it impossible to work on this thing outside.

I threw the clear corners back on, hung with some cool cats, and in the 15 minutes it took, I completely soaked my shirt with sweat. And it’s only like 7:00am! Hottest part of the day is 3:00/1500!! Insane.

Legitimately am gonna start looking into how expensive a small garage would be to build. But, it’s coming along. Slowly but surely.

Picked up another 2g spyder over the week. Few issues. Previous owner said it ran hot and he finished driving it home and never messed with it. Well when I went and picked it up it was pretty clean. Little rust in the usual spots. But not to major, poped the hood and seen the waterpump pully was crooked. All the mounts where shot. Tried to crank it it spun so its not locked up. Then over the weekend I did a few different things like, pulled the plugs. (Engine got so hot the plug wires melted and stuck in the pocket.) Let's just say it was alot of gabbing with flathead and compressed air. Just mainly wanted to check out the engine. Later on I will do a compresson test. But I have another one to put in if need b. But I went the hole 9 yards. Pulled the seats carpet and deep cleaned it all. Took the skirts off to find some more surface rust. (Not bad for a 300 dollar car) top is almost new but havent gotting around to finding out why it wont go up or down. Even if i manualy try it seams like the motor for the tops r stuck or seized up. But over all it won't b a bad beater for me to rep the dsm community..Excited for the project

i've been drove it around the block and also some highway pulls(50-60% throttle) and seems like everything works as it should, so no issues with VE table so far, hope it keeps that way

Set your alarm for 5am. ROFL I was up early today also and agree it's been to dam hot to do any work outside comfortably so I sat in my garage (attached to the house so has central heat and AIR) and worked on my water tube for the new engine. I won't be using the turbo water feed so I plugged the fitting.

Edit: So now its 2:30 and I just finished measuring my stock crank that I took out of the donor motor I rescued from the Arkansas scrapyard and holy SHIT, this thing mike's out GREAT. .0005" wear on the mains and a almost still perfect set of rod journals. The bearings all looked great when I ripped it apart so I am happy to have a "spare stock" crank for the future. I think I have one bare block.

I buttoned up a few things and turned it on for the first time after the overhaul to find out vacuum leak galore (was expecting it) and o2 to downpipe leak (also expecting) most likely will have a local fab guy create a vband for it but going to fix those and hopefully have someone come by to help clean up the idle and get it driving

Would be interested in seeing your VE table. The cyclone will definitely have an affect on it compared to a stock 1G manifold, if the HP gains are to be believed (which we have dynos that say it does). It's not like you can make much more HP with the same amount of air (outside of timing changes and variances), so your table should look pretty different than if you used the other mani.

Installed the vamos engine diaper for a 1g

PM me with details about that engine diaper. Never seen one of those before.

Does Seafoam accomplish this?

Here is the link where I purchased it

Also instructions are right there

Fixed the gasket leaks so now just waiting for someone who knows what they’re doing to start playing with the ecmlink to get it driving and all that to make sure everything’s good and then clutch swap and install cams before a real tune

Yes it will but the steam of the water is the cheapest and easiest for carbon build up. SeaFoam is something we use internally in the oil usually to clean out lifter holes and the inside in general (Or a half quart of ATF  ).

My cousin stopped over to borrow something, so while he was here I got him to help me. We got the 1GA hood off and 1GB hood on.

This weekends project is rebuilding the front lower control arms, and get the wheel bearings back together.

Finished getting the steering knuckles and spindles cleaned up and painted. Got the LCAs out and started clean up as well. While I was at it I removed the subframe cross braces as they were caked in grease.

I think tomorrow I'll finalize cleanup on the braces and LCAs and get them painted. While drying I'll reassemble wheel bearings.

I can't get the car fully back together because RockAuto sent a wrong ball joint. The box had the right part number but the part was obviously wrong, so I'm waiting on it to arrive then the car should roll.

I went ahead and ordered sway bar links today too. Those won't stop me from being able to roll the car if I need to once I have the other ball joint.

Today didn't go 100% to plan, but I got some stuff done.

Got the rest of the clean up done. Got wheel bearings reassembled into the knuckles. Got the old lca bushings out and new ones in. Got the subframe pieces and lcas painted up.

Just waiting on the ball joints and sway bar links and we'll be rolling. Wish I had the money to go ahead and do suspension, but that will come eventually.
