What did you do to your DSM today?

Well, nothing accomplished today. Got my "replacement" ball joint from RockAuto and its yet a 3rd different ball joint. It seems to have a lot of play for being new too.

I ordered 2 of the same part number. In the first shipment one was very different from other. Pretty sure its for a truck. I got them to send me another, and its different yet again. All 3 came in the same box with the same part number.

I'm over it. I bought a pair off eBay instead. Should have them by Friday. Probably won't get it rolling Friday because of fantasy draft, but it should roll this weekend.

Ball joints actually showed up today. Got them installed, put the LCAs up in place, and loosely installed the knuckles and sway bar links.

I realized I need to get a grease gun so didn't want to suck the knuckles down until I grease the ball joints.

I still need to put the cross members back in too, but its close to rolling.

Waking up to a small but "large enough to be concerned" puddle of antifreeze on the ground. Which is odd since I havent started the car since Sunday and it wasnt there when i went out to the garage yesterday. Looks like its been running down the lower radiator hose. Between this car and my Durango... Im getting really burned out on cooling issues. :(

Have you considered replacing the rusted oil cooler lines? They look like they have seen better days. Just pointing it out is all. Love the build posts.

Yep. That's on my agenda. I am going to build some from PTFE with AN fittiings and adapt to banjo. I guess I need to decide what size line to do. I have a bunch here, Not sure if I want to do -8, or -10.

Too BIG of line and you will reduce pressure, too small of a line and you reduce flow. I would try to replace it with approximately the same size. My B&M oil cooler from STM came with 6AN line on it, just for reference, but you could check some of those other aftermarket parts and see what THEY use then decide which is best for your application.

Being the lines are so rough, I might just cut it in half and measure the ID.

Hint......save em and post them up in the classifieds after they are out and a bit cleaner. They are old but still desired.

Not today but this past Sunday, got the car out at the track, started making good progress on the Fueltech for the launch, went from bogging constantly, to cutting a 1.56 60', with still a lot of RPM drop, few more tweaks got it down to a 1.48, followed by a 1.46 running a 10.1 letting out before the 1000' then got a little too greedy and shredded my built t-case on the next launch. It let go well before the 60' beam and rolled to a 1.48. The good news is I already sourced new parts, will be back up soon.

Pressurize your cooling system, it'll show you where it'd coming from. You may be able to rent a tool from autozone or pick up.an inexpensive one from harbor freight/amazon.

Checked out the radiator leak today. After tightening the clamp and going for a drive yesterday, the ground is dry and no sign of coolant running down the lower hose anymore.

Power has really been lacking, so I put a little air into the exhaust and sprayed soap all the way from the exhaust manifold down to the downpipe.

Bubbles everywhere... Not only is the turbo gasket leaking which i already pretty much knew, but also the exhaust manifold to block gasket and the o2 housing gasket and that = melted fan and a noticeable loss in power.

Parts on order from supporting vendors.

Had to get out of the house Saturday so I headed to my buddy's shop. He was prepping the race car for IFO and another friend (the tuner) was working on a customer car.

While talking to the tuner he asked me if I knew anyone that had a rear seat, since he needs one for the class he'll be running at IFO in his car. I told him I had one in the Talon still, but it needed cleaned up and I planned on deleting it anyway. Told him if he needed it I could drop it off this week.

I decided to get it pulled and cleaned up.

Installed a new motor mount with prothane inserts. The old one wasn’t correct and off who knows what car.. the bolt holes were drilled out and it used nuts and bolts rather than just bolts. It was also filled with some sort of bullshit caulking too.

Also found out I pinched and busted my one piece line from the master to slave. Must’ve moved when I had side and front motor mounts off while redoing the timing 😓 And when I attached the mounts it got pinched between the trans and crossmember. I didn’t notice until I went to drive the car. Put my foot down on the clutch pedal and it stayed down. Stupid me

oh i love that colour scheme.. I kicked myself daily for swapping mine out for the standard bland gray just because it was a complete set.

Got to replace some peices on my newly acquired GST. Rusted trunk struts were replaced, as well as the rusted sunroof frame. New battery, and replaced pass side mirror glass. It's looking promising.

Have you driven on those coilovers yet? How's the ride quality over say potholes and stuff over city roads?

Also, man that blue is gorgeous. I'm a sucker for blue.
So I took the car for it's second ride since it's been road worthy. All I can say is WOW what a difference! They're set to middle of its stiffness range and the car rides like a brand new car. It's stiff and tight without being overly bouncy and uncomfortable. Huge improvement over the garbage GR2s. It goes in for an alignment in a couple of weeks and I'll be able to play with it more but initial impressions are very good. Would recommend.

Threw on this rad cap from an old Nissan radiator (Megan racing I think?)

I liked that the gasket was thicker and seemed to be better constructed than the Motorad cap that was new

Just came back from 6 month abroad filming street view, good ole Talon fired right up no questions axed and brought me home. Gave her some fresh Motul fifteen dubya fiddy and a good rip. Honestly coming from a 2022 car and jumping in an old car like a DSM is quite the jarring experience but hwen you put the pedal down, that's where they get ya!
