Took mine road coursing this past weekend at Summit Point, WV. It was a success and a huge rush.

First Session started out a bit disappointing after experienced brake fade. Picked up Motul 660 and bleed the entire system.

Second Session was much better, ran it hard for about 10 laps before getting a CEL for coolant temp (226 F), pitted for a few minutes, then got back out for another 5 laps, pitted one last time and finished session. Brakes held up great once I had race quality fluid. Second Instructor was very good and I learned a great deal during this session, he was very impressed with the car and felt with proper cooling I would have no problem doing this regularly. I ended up purchasing an NASA membership and plan to be at VIR July 20th - 22nd for more HPDE sessions.

I did log some minor knock during the high engine temps (1-2 degrees retard at most), the next month will be spent working hard to maximize cooling of both the motor and transmission. Today I purchased lots of parts to aide in cooling, now I need to make a trip up to Home Depot to get aluminum and other ducting bits...

I highly recommend getting out to a local track to anyone with a well maintained vehicle and a safe buffer of $$ for fixing / tweaking.

about to go to buddies house and put in FP Forged manifold, Replace Oil filter housing, change spark plugs

Got a 2.5 inch catback installed.

Raceforbeer, how much did it run you for a session? I have been thinking about going up to summit point and trying my hand at some laps

NASA Mid Atlantic offers what are called Hyperdrives through OG Racing, they are $50 a session and include classroom time and a 30 minute session with instructor. You can purchase additional sessions for $50, each session is 30 minutes with an instructor.

I purchased two of these last weekend, so for $100 got ~60 minutes of track time.

The next Hyperdrives are at VIR in July, you should come down! These are the cheapest way I could find to get on a track. The HPDE session and FATT sessions run $200+ per day, but you get hours of track time. I'll be signing up for HPDE Group 1 at VIR in July, it's ~ $400 for both days (Sat+Sun).

NASA seems to have the same format at each track, here's the VIR info: https://nasaproracing.com/event/1482

even though it was hotter then hell outside i decided to finally make my trim peices for around the rear strut tower brace. Nothing special just cut out the center of the stock covers.

Drove my 1g over 800 miles in the last 5 days. No hiccups, no leaks, no problems. Has no FIAV or ISC and it doesn't seem to matter.
This car kicks ASS! Best $500 I ever spent.

Replaced the A/C condesor and recharged the system with some R134a + oil that i got from wal-mart... I only went a few weeks without A/C but man it felt likeit was years! LOL, ONce i felt that nice cool wind coming out of the vents i was once again in heaven driving on the hot streets of omaha.

I honestly can't relate to anyone who willingly pulls their A/C off and lives in a hot climate area with their DD being a DSM. And a few notes to those with the AC pulled off for either "freeing up power" or for "weight savings"

A.) the compressor shuts off when you go wideopen throttle or exceed a certain RPM so at most yuou're spijnning the weight of a couple pounds for the pully that rides on bearings.. THere's probably more power being held back by the water pump or even old wheel bearings and brake pad drag than their is being robbed by the air conditioning b.) the amount of weight the AC system is accountable for is probably less than the weight most people add with the installation of amplifiers anjd the larger magnets on aftermarket speakers and or subwolfers..

SO if you have no AC to make the car faster but have a big bass bumping stereo system, and hate that you sweat your ass off in the summer in slow moving traffic, just do me a favor and slap yourself in the face with a bag of frozen chcken nuggets LOL (just kidding) but i'll be happy to take your AC parts as spares in case i have any more issues..

I love my AC, and am spoiled by the creature comfort it proivides.. I've always said i'll stop modding my car when it gets to the point that the AC needs to be removed.. thankfully i've reached 500whp before and on the current turbo i'm right back at that doorstep easily able to cross it and i've never had to do any mods that made my car uncomfortable or harder to drive.

IN fact not only is my car "full weight" it's well over factory weight at this point.. I know my turbo and exh. mani weigh more than OEM, the cyclone intake weighs morethan the OEM, I would guess that the SS 3" exhaust is heavier than the OEM but with the exclusion of the cat (but i can't be sure on the exhaust one) Anyway.. subs, door speakers, and amps for the radio have added weight.. nitrous bottle adds weight, I keep about 70+ lbs of tools in the trunk in a book bag "just in case", the bigger wider tires weigh more than stock ones, bugger breaks weigh more and on and on i could go, but i'm guessing by the factthat i've weighed the car "in street trim" at a tad over 3400lbs this summer, but having never weighed it stock i can't be sure but i doubt it's weight was more than what it currently is, yet it's faster than most in the area, and so far faster than any of the ones i've come across where people have sacrificed condition of the car and the comforting parts like AC, P/S and more in order to "make ffree power" and to make up for the lack of fund or knowledge of how to really make the car faster.. Hell if i could get a good clean set of leather seats to toss in the car you can bet your ass i would have them in there in a hear beat and i KNOW they are heavy as hell

well i'm rambling on about nothing that's relevant to this thread so good night every one

I never put my ac belt back on after the top end rebuild because I didn't feel like dicking around with the tensioner.
It was 97 degrees yesterday, 90 something humidity. I sweat some, I was hot..but I'm still not gonna put that belt back on. Lol.

Cleaned my turbine wheel for the rebuild. And it came out pretty good. :)

Friday.Got the intake pipe installed, with new K&N.Cut a few holes for colder air,Genious idea.

Today.Sanded my megan turbo back with 600 grit, and went over with steel wool.Got the new o2 housing coated..Dremel freaking died..It worlks for a second if you hit it..:(

Getting the leaking double clamped coolant line fixed tomarrow..Get the rest of the maf wired.

Busted my ass fixing a busted fuel rail, orings, and injectors all night till around 2:30am had to be at work at 6:00am due to bent fuel rail with huge air leak and pissing fuel all over the engine. Don't ask how it happend.:p But luckly I had my new powdercoated fuel rail to throw on.

I de-nigged my car this morning. Wire ties all over the place holding things on instead of bolts. Good thing I had more than a few laying around. De-wired my o2 sensor for replacement, tightened my turbo oil return line (which was leaking) and got some ideas about how to better secure my air filter onto the MAF sensor. Pretty productive day.

Just gave her a bath this morning after sitting while I rebuild the motor. Just breaking in the new motor out pounding on her! Everything looks good so far beside front left caliper is locked up. Oh and the new valve cover gasket is leaking on the cam gear side. If its not one thing its another :)

Changed plugs and wires, did an EGR delete, and removed the emissions stuff on my VR-4.

1g alts are stupid easy. Try one on a 2g or a 3S and report back.
