Langley,
Hey guys, just wondering what make of aftermarket racing seats you guys are using? Please post pics if possible and your review of comfort and stabilty.

I want to know because I am currently looking around for a set of seats that are in-expensive, comfortable, and provide good support for daily driving. I'm looking at the low-end Sparco seats but I want to know your opinions.

PS. will I need to buy brackets for the aftermarket seats or do they all just bolt into the factory brackets?

you will most likely have to buy brackets, but every seat is different. comfort is all based on your opinion look around your area with ppl who have seats and ask to sit in em, or drive the car around to get the feel.

I haven't found any company that sells brackets for the 1G DSM but I'm sure the universal fit ones would work, right?

anyways, I've been looking around in the gallery and saw that some guys are using Tenzo R seats. How are they for comfort and quality? This is a daily driver car so I don't need full support but I want something better than the stock ones because they offer zero support.

Just a side note, my sister recently but a Golf GTI and I love the seats in that thing. They are supportive and comfortable for a daily driven car.

Wel, first off, most of the cheap knock offs offer less support than the 1g seats. IMHO, the 1g seats were a good design. A lot better to me than the 2g seats. Then again, mine have adjustable lumbar and side bolsters. Second, I hope the vw seats are nice because Recaro makes most of the seats for vw and have been for years.

I'd stick with something that has a good name BRIDE, Sparco, Recaro, Momo.... Cheap knockoffs are almost always crap. If you want something cheaper go with a Summit Racing seat or something. Thats what I heard John Shepherd was using. they're probably sponsoring him or something though.

I have a pair of Tenzo Rs that are brand new in my basement... I havn't bought brackets for them yet because once I make that investment I will be $700 into this seating situation and I don't think it will be near where I want it to be. If you want my Tenzo Rs or sliders I'll sell them to you, but so you know I'm going to buy something better with that money. Many people don't mind them, but after experiencing good seats I can't do that to myself.

I really like the EVO 8 seats as far as an awesome balance of comfort and hold... I just wished they looked different. VW seats are nice as well, but less holdy-more comforty.

I sat in a Tiburon GT that was loaded from the lot the other day and those seats were nice! Id like to see how they hold up!

so, is it possible to put stock seats from another car into mine? For example, like the Recaro ones I was talking about from my sister's VW. Or, would those be more expensive?

Just take a look at the brackets in her car sometime.... take some measurements. In our car its only 4 bolts, if you can attach the other seat to those 4 bolts easily then voila... you're done. If not, you need a "simple" steel bracket that will mate some existing holes on the seat to your holes... or make new holes. I recommend against the ladder though.
