I just got done rebuilding my motor. I got it in the car and tried to prime the oil pump.. well I used my drill to spin the oil pump. When I did I eventually made the drill drag down but no oil coming out of the head. I took off one of the oil cooler lines and have oil coming out. And I noticed oil coming out of both lines when I spun the pump. I have ran the head and front case on the car before... Please help

The motor was completely rebuilt . New eagle forged crankshaft , eagle rods , Ross .020 pistons. Acl race bearings. the motor does not have balance shafts. Bearings were clicked 180* . Arp head studs. On the head its the same as I have ran before the rebuild just cleaned up.

What does your pressure get up to when you prime it? May just not have enough RPM to get it up there. Also how long did you prime? It took me a few minutes to get all the way up to the head.

I'm not sure about pressure .. but I have tried priming it 3 times now. Each time for about 4 minutes.. oil comes out of the oil cooler lines

I rebuilt it my self.. any other time I have primed the oil pump I had oil at the head. And coming out of the turbo oil feed.

Some folks fill the oil filter with oil after taking the sending unit of the cavity with using a squirt bottle filled with oil and a vinyl line, shove that hose in the hole of the sending unit and fill the pump up with oil before doing any spinning.

This primes the pump and should immediately gets the galleys full of oil and up to the head in a quick when spinning the pump with that drill.

I pulled off the filter and it was full of oil. put it back on and filled the filter . Still no oil to the head after 4 minutes of running the drill. can tell there is some pressure being built because the drill will start to drag down in rpm's

is there any way to tell if the head gasket it on backwards with out pulling the head off?

You see on the front side of the engine (facing the radiator), there is the oil drain hole. If the gasket was on incorrectly somehow, the angled portion of surface would not match the angled part of the gasket. Essentially, it would stick out going in the opposite direction.

I've never tried... Is it even possible to put a headgasket on incorrectly with the dowels in place?

*edit*
Another question: have you removed the valve cover and primed it using this method to see if anything squirts, rather than just looking through the cap hole? Keep rags handy, just in case.

I never had a huge oil spray when I primed it with the drill, even though I had 90psi on the gauge. I've since ported the OFH :p

If your turbo is fed oil from the head, loosen/remove the banjo bolt and see if you get oil that far into the head.

Iv pulled the turbo oil feed line off the turbo and no oil comes out if the line

The whole time I have tried to prime it I have had the valve cover off

This is a bit of a bonehead question....

This is a factory mitsu 6 bolt turbo block?

Are the oil squirters installed?

Yea it is a factory 6 bolt the oil squirters are in the motor and were torqued to factory specs. Balance shaft bearing were installed 180* from the blocks oiling holes .

It has straight cut gears . When I run the drill I spin it clock wise . I get oil coming out of the O.F.H . Out to the oil cooler. But still nothing at the head
