Currently running 10~ PSI out of waste gate. I would like to run around 15 psi, however I'm not sure if it's safe to use a manual boost controller to get there. I know the factory tune is designed to run off a turbo but is the ecu adaptive to different boost? will I do damage running at a boost increase without a new ecu or tune?

Pick up a wideband o2 and you'll know without a doubt how much boost you can run. You say you're running 10psi at the moment so i assume you have a boost gauge?

I would also look into buying/building a boost leak tester to ensure everything is right before attempting to up the boost.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I have a boost gauge, currently I can tell from the gauge there are no leaks, and the car has had a EBC in it before. It was taken out just before I bought it, so I'd like to put one back in, the previous owner said it's equipped to handle 20 psi with ease.

A manual boost controller is just fine. An ebc is just a convenience item really. Saves you from having to pop your hood to adjust and the ability to have presets is nice, but a mbc will work just as well. Hallman mbc's have in-cab routing available. Almost as convenient as an ebc.

What kind of mods does the car have? Like 2gmitsu said above, if you fill out your profile we can give better advice, and maybe be less redundant LOL.

Not to sure how you can tell that the car has no boost leaks just by the gauge .... the gauge is watching intake manifold pressure. It may say 10 psi but actually it is making 15 psi but the rest is lost due to leaks along the way ..... also clamps that hold 10 psi may not hold 15psi ... a leak detector is just one of the few tools needed to reliable test and diagnose these turbo cars ... that just my two cents .... glad to see another DSM'er, have fun

Oh wow, thank you for the info! I'm always open to learning. I will look into this!
