So I just got another GST and before I start driving it I need to fix some things up. I noticed one of the belts squeal when it starts up. Guessing crank pulley is separating or one of the belts are loose. But this is really what I'm super confused about. Another previous owner problem. Take a peek at the vacuum lines by the intake manifold and where the pcv valve line should be. Some help on what's going on would be great. Also don't see where the line for the valve cover is.

Wow that's a mess. It has a cheapo 3 dollar boost controller in the wrong place completely. You need to look at some vaccum diagrams and do it properly. The J pipe coupler looks like it's falling off. Another HUGE thing is that baterry is definitely going to jump up due to not being tied down and the cable is going to hit the strut bar potentially shorting stuff out or worse cause a fire.

Yeah I figured the controller was in a bad place and a cheapo eBay one. Yeah this thing has gotten messed with pretty bad in some areas but the previous owner tried fixing a lot of things that were wrong from the owner before him and decided to rebuild the whole engine haha. I'll update on what I find out tomorrow.

Do you think that jpipe being loose could potentially cause an oil leak?

No.. not an oil leak but definitly a boost leak which will cause sputtering, no power, etc. Common oil leaks with hacked up DSM's are usually at the turbo oil drain line. Could be from other things too, you just gotta check. A couple of other things I noticed is that BOV is missing a clamp at the coupler unless I'm not seeing something. And the nipple on the side of the valve cover should have a line routing into that pipe the previous owner thought would suffice for an intake. Holy moly LOL

No you're seeing it right sadly LOL. I noticed it had a stainless line for the drain so I'll be sure to check that too. Yeah I found that out too I confused myself with the PCV, Thank god he included the stock intake so I can hook that up. Also look at the studs for the manifold and tell me what you see:ohdamn:

If you can do a boost leak test, that will help you spot some other not so obvious vacuum leaks too.

that valve cover breather line that is missing might be getting oil on your motor too so get it fixed... my guess is one of the Previous owners, likely had a catch can installed and took it out before selling the car to the next guy so get a catch can or hook the lines back up to the motor.

And after all of the obvious try some oil dye in the oil and use a ultra violet (black) light to help pinpoint oil leaks. Helped me a lot and it doesn't have to run very long just a minute or two then shut it off and take the uv light to it and good luck. Reminds me of the mess I had when I got mine, a lot of straightening out to do first.

Yeah I've seen a YouTube video about that. I'm gonna check everything first and then give that a try. I appreciate all of the help guys! Gotta love the good ol DSM community:dsm::talon::laser::hellyeah:
