Alright, so i finally got my 1g eagle talon awd turbo working well, now that i have money i am going to do some internal upgrades, i was planning on boring my block .40 over and putting forged internals in it, my question was what brands should i go with or should i do something else, also is there anything that i am forgetting if so could you tell me............ thanks

I say do whatever your money permits. When putting the new internals in dont forget to factor in the machine work to the total cost of parts. Once you factor that in you can better assess what brand parts to get.

What are the HP goals, Stock setup is good for most people. You can use the money on the top end & better turbo & fuel management I am sure you would be happy

Yes like stated above what are your hp goals? is yor engine healthy overall? if so then i whould get a bigger turbo with all supporting mods off course.

Short & Long Term Goals-Help us and yourself out huge, start from there

0-400HP-Stock should be fine/most will get away with stock internals

400+ Than yes, internals are a good idear!

I hope you've done all the maintenance first.

Judging by what his statement started off with, we are all assuming, he has covered that..

Correct, OP?

Thanks for the tips guys.. My go goals are around the 600 and 700 mark my car is already exceptionally fast has a maf translator with a 3.5 in. gm mass air flow sensor and a t3/t4 turbo hybrid but of course I want my dsm to be faster so I already know that I need forged internals because of the hp and rpm that my car is gonna reach and was just wondering what the best brands and parts to get are and what I need to replace I've got enough money for some expensive stuff so hit me with what I need to get to make my car an insane beast

i would go with what jay said start off with you head some nice bc 280 cams aem cam gears after that maybe port an polish the head your 6 bolt bottem end should hold up too 600hp

L19 head studs or MAP Ultimate Duty H11 Head Studs and a nice cosmetic hp head gasket. Also you will pretty much have to run E85.

Or you can run meth? :ohdamn: e85 is nice if you have the fuel system for it and a local station. If the station isn't local then meth is also a viable option. I know here we only have one local station and its 30 miles from home.

Thanks for the advice guys

If you're wanting 700hp, I would skip the Brian Crower stuff and get some Kelford 272's or 280's (Delta Cam offers a billet cam option made on these specific cams, unlike the regrinds they usually offer). Also a JMFabrications race or drag intake manifold would make a nice gain for ya. I'd also do a set of Kiggly Racing beehive springs (they come with the bases, springs, and retainers), some new bronze guides, a decent set of stainless valves (engine builder on eBay has a nice setup), viton valve seals, new valve locks, 3G lifters, and a set of cam gears (AEM, unorthodox, fidanza, etc). I would also do the Kiggly racing HLA mod while you're building the head. Don't forget to get a good timing belt like a Gates Racing unit.

As far as head-gaskets/bolts. I would recommend ARP L19's or A1 Technologies H11's. As far as head-gaskets go, the Fel-Pro Permatorque MLS is a great gasket, but there are others on the market that are good as well.

As far as pistons, you can do the wiseco 1400hd's in whatever compression ratio you choose. The higher the compression ratio you will need higher octane gasoline/better tuning, because they will be more likely to produce knock over a low compression ratio piston. For example: 7.8:1 is low 12.5:1 is high. Either some 9:1, 9.5:1, or 10:1 would be perfect for your setup, depending on tuning capabilities. By no means do you have to run the HD's, an off the shelf JE/Manley piston will carry you to your goal with relative ease.

As far as rods go, there are so many options out. You can go aluminum (Groden or R&R), steel h-beam (eagle or Manley), pauter x beams, etc etc. Overall, you really need to figure out what best fits your budget and horsepower goals.

Make sure you get an OEM oil pump/balance shaft elim kit, with the straight cut gears if possible. Your pistons will come with rings, gap them for your setup and plans accordingly. You'll need to buy your rod/main bearings ACL and Clevite both offer good units. I highly recommend doing the Kiggly Racing main girdle, with a set of ARP main studs while you're in there.

This guy pretty much summed it up :D. 1st thing in mind, FORGED internals then go crazy on everything else. If you can, get that crankshaft cryo treated although I'm pretty sure the 1g has a better CS than a 2g for obvious reasons. Beehive valve springs & oversized valves are highly recommended. Of course higher HP means you gotta have better cooling capacity. Then start working on the transmission, DSMs have a notoriety for being weak and I don't think that it can hold up to that 700hp mark but I could be wrong. Balance and blueprint the engine. Fuel delivery and a controller should also be on top of the list. Good luck and keep us updated.
