Hi there, I am still a fairly newly registered member but have been checking this site out for a while to answers for my DSM questions.

I bought a 97 GSX Automatic bone stock from a kid about 4 months ago.

Since then I have put on the following:
AEM Cold air intake
GReddy Type S bov (recirculated of course)
Bleeder type boost controller
Boost, A/f, Voltmeter (my sound system likes to kill my battery from time to time)

Now I have a few questions about the upgrade path to take. My turbo is not sounding the best (at only 9 psi) almost like the bearings are going. I was going to do an Evo III 16g, 255 lph fuel pump, 560cc Injectors, turbo back exhaust, and I have a VRSF FMIC I got for christmas sitting around.

My question is should I get SAFC2 and wideband to tune, or will SAFC2 be good enough?

Also is this a decent setup? My plans are to run around 15 psi for my DD and if there is a better setup I would like to know.. thank you!
 
Yes get a wideband. That A/F narrowband is no good. Sounds like a common ideal setup. But you have the basic info together.

You will be able to push more then 15psi and still keep it a DD, i was pushing 18 with my small 16g n a evo 8 pump.

Lastly, of course there is always a better setup, but depends on your budget and goals.

I'm a college student so my budget is pretty low as you can imagine. I don't want anything too crazy but the next time some Minnesota redneck tries to pull on me in his gutted 1500 I want to actually smoke him instead of just ignoring it as usual.

I want the motor to last a while, being my only winter-drivable car and winter being too long out the year up here (I have to cross states to get to school) I can't afford too much down time so I don't want to boost too high.

Was thinking about a MAF-T. Any problems with those and running a SAFC2? And would I have to change my intake pipe?
 
I would look into ecmlink, they have a lite version that's less expensive. And also for the price you will get 560ls for (unless they're evo injectors) you could get some 750s or 850s to save yourself the hassle of switching it all out later. I am about to run an evo 3 16g, evo 9 fuel pump, 850s and 18 - 22 psi. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do keep us posted!
 
Don't forget a logger. A tuning device is pointless if you can't see what it's doing...wait DANGEROUS, not pointless.
 
I thought anything over 650cc injectors was too much for SAFC2?

Of course, I have been looking for a pocket logger or something similar but I am not sure what materials to get for that.

The only thing I have used to "log" my DSM while driving has been a SnapOn Modis scan tool I rent from my school tool room.

How much would a logger run me? I have a spare laptop with XP on it laying around if I can use that and an app?

I don't know if I would put money on that.. my life is at risk daily because the hicks I live next to are always working on their Geo's. They know how to do two things, cut and weld. And smoke in their garage while doing so. I think they actually had to fix fuel lines once..

Everyone on here will preach to not use SAFC. It has its limitations.

Haha a dude up the street from me just traded an 80's f150 and a 4 wheeler for a jeep. The next day he screwed down some old army amunition boxes, filled them with chains for muddin, and made fender flairs out of road signs.
