Hey guys,

we got some great footage of a bugatti veyron. We got to chat with the owner for a bit, he was actually a really cool guy. it didnt take much convincing to get him to run it down the strip .

Wow! Only in South Florida would you see something like that.

It's amazing how on the first run when the launch control wasn't working right it ran a 12 flat at 137 and then when the launch control WAS working right it was able to drop the time almost two seconds to a 10.1 yet the mph only went up to 139.

Cars like that don't have short gear ratios like 4-banger sport compacts, they simply can't be launched hard. Supercars simply aren't strong drag race cars, nor even meant to be, they're kings of the highway and top speed.

Agreed. I'm just curious how the Nazi Tech's at the track I go to would handle a car like that after it made a pass. I'm pretty sure they'd let it make a pass, then give him the boot for not having a cage.

Veyron: gear ratios 1st-3.18:1, 2nd-2.26:1, 3rd-1.68:1, 4th-1.29:1, 5th-1.06:1, 6th-0.88:1, 7th-0.80:1, final drive-3.64:1

1G AWD 5 speed: Gear ratios 1st-3.083:1, 2nd-1.684:1, 3rd-1.115:1, 4th-0.833:1, 5th-0.666:1, Final Drive-4.929:1

Looks pretty short geared to me... Its 7 gears that allows it to have the speed it does. The final drive is somewhat low but nothing drastic...

If it was launched like this it would have been much faster.

If you can afford a Veyron, tires are of no concern.

Would be cool to see the time slip. I'm sure it wasn't launched hard at all. Technically he would need a full cage, firesuit, parachute, and and several other things to run that car.

That launch I posted was on a non-prepped road course, Im sure it wouldnt have spun like that on a sticky drag strip. This is all speculation of course...

The rims alone cost 40,000 and they suggest u replace them every 75,00 miles. Tires proably cost 10g a set. Nice run though

Tires are $40,000 a set and if I recall correctly they last 3,000-4,000 miles with street driving, i.e. commuting.
