VTEC_THIS is right, so i have decided to order this turbo, Precision T & E SCM6162R Ball Bearing Turbocharger. what exhaust manifold 02 housing and wastegate size should i go for? i like the DNP stuff. with this set up if i run the exhaust and waste gate to the side of the engine i wont have any problems right?

The pte 6152e is not a bad choice for a budget. They typically go for around $1200-1300 correct?

Just so you know. The hx40 super40 is the most affordable at $825. You can talk to city diesel and probably get a unit without the turbine housing for $650ish (they have similar for sale). The bolton BEP huosing is 250. But even if you pay 825 for the turbo, and turn around and buy the bolton housing for 250, you're still paying a little less; and you have a faster spooling turbo that flows more. You can get a freshly rebuilt hx40 for much less.

Your choice is your opinion. And I'm not here to get on your case. Just comparing the costs. There are more pte 6152 powered dsms than hx40 powered dsms.

You're looking at the wrong vendor. ;)

I've seen the cheapest prices for PTE here, and they have options for the turbo and don't charge extra for them (compressor cover, turbine housing).

But, yes you're right the HX-40 is another very reasonable priced turbo.

I don't know how other people do, but I could never justify spending $1500+ just for a damn turbo. With $1500 you can buy a T3 turbo, a T3 manifold and even an external wastegate.

Steve, is not the s258 turbine choices large enough to flow well for the 258 compressor wheel? The compressor wheel is plenty big to match gt35r flow...

I'm sure the 258s turbine wheel is matched well for it's compressor flow, it's rated at slightly less flow than a 35r. Pretty close considering it's got a 3mm smaller inducer though. The newer 259 might actually match the rated flow of a 35r, I haven't seen it's compressor map though.

The hx40 super40 is the most affordable at $825.

The BW non-extended tip turbos are under $1k as well, and offer great bang for the buck. Matt at GV is running the 256NET and has seen great results on pump/meth.

Although the purchase has been made, you can return it, can't you?

Do the hx 40. Do it. Just freaking do it. You want to do it, it makes GOBS of power, and if THATS not enough, just do the hx 50. we can go at this all day, but pricewise, holset is a NO FREAKING BRAINER. How can you argue with a turbo that bolts on(in the BEP housing), spools earlier than all these 35rs that EVERYONE has, and flows comparable if not more? And on top of it all, is CONSIDERABLY cheaper?

I won't lie, when I first heard of, and started learning the holset scene, i was SO skeptical. I couldnt understand it, but it works. It literally is the PERFECT upgrade for a 4cyl. It's so perfect it's scary. You want a holset, you really do.
