Time For a New Clutch

Right before I bought my car the preivous owner put an autozone stock replacement clutch in my car. Now that I got the car working correctly the clutch slips so bad. Normal driving it is fine, but If I floor it in any gear it is instantly to the rev limiter. I was hoping this stock replacement clutch was going to work for alittle while, especially since my car is basically stock, but I was wrong. Now I am trying to decide which clutch to get. I have narrowed it down to the ACT 2600 or the SBR 3500 series clutch. I am also planing on upgrading to an aluminum flywheel I was lookign at the fidanza or the slow boy racing one. Let me know on which you guys would go with, and also with the aluminum flywheels do i need to get new bolts?

I went with the SBR 3500 due to ACT quality going downhill.

I have 1300 miles on my SBR so it is still pretty new but no complaints yet.

im pretty sure the manual recomends replaceing the f/w bolts everytime you remove them. at the very least use RED threadlock on them.

my ACT 2600 is fine ive got 3 summers on it.

Well one positive for SBR 3500, and one Positive for ACT 2600. Is there any negative feadback about the SBR clutch? There is some with the ACT 2600, such as the springs poping out, and the fact it puts alot of stress on the clutch pedal assembly.

how long ago was the clutch replaced?
I remenber when i replace my clutch and the clutch pedal wasn't adjusted properly it would slip whenever i step on it.

when i was to the point in the upgrade path that i needed a new clutch i was in ur shape. my clutch was slipping bad. i decided on the act 2600 clutch and act streetlite flywheel. i love this combo, it holds very strong all the way to redline now. i dont know about the act going downhill thing but in my experience i would recommend them to anyone.

The clutch was replaced 4 months ago, but it has less than 10k miles on it. My clutch pedal assembly is bad right now, I plan on fixing it this weekend, it would be nice if that was the problem.

I had the act2600 in my old 90 talon tsi awd with the same mods as I have in my 90 gsx now. This time around I went with the sbr3500 because of the peddle pressure. I do 80+ miles a day in traffic to get to and from work so it sounded great. I also went with the SBR flywheel(made by fidanza anyway unless they put the fidanza sticker and put it in a fidanza box for fun). So far I am real happy with this setup. Grip seems the same if not better than how my 2600 did. We'll see how it holds up when I start modding more.
