My clutch is going out and its really embarassing when i cant even pass a car on the freeway. I have a 2G FWD GST and i only need something that can handle no more than 300 hp. What are ur recomendations? ACT? Centerforce? Clutch Masters? Anything Else?

(P.S. I only have $200-$250 to play with.)

I have a spec clutch , and it handles severe abuse. I will buy another one when this one dies.

How about the Centerforce I? Has anyone tried it out or ever used one on their 2nd Gen FWD eclipse Turbo?

Act 2100 is what I would (and did) buy. Survived a trip to the dyno (334 foot lbs at the wheels), two dozen 1/4 mile passes and 10,000 miles without problems. It will run you more than 250 dollars though, I think.

how about the new SBR clutchs

he said he has like 250 bux. Those SBR ones are too much dinero. Again, I say don't count out South Bend or SPEC. Usually cheaper then the competition, and work great. Don't know why they don't get more credit with the DSM community.

My fwd has had the ACT 2100 for well over 32K miles, and no sign of slipping yet. been on the dyno a few times, best of 277whp/265tq, and to the track 5 times. but i'm looking for something to handle about 375 wheel hp...time to turn the wick up ;)

Stay away from Centerforce, they are known to explode with High Horsepower.

$250 isnt going to buy you much, you may have to settle for a used one or just save up more, you can still drive regularly on a bad clutch.

I know i can still drive regularly on my gimp clutch for now. I dont want any more than 300 hp at this point and i think the ceterforce I is enouph for my current setup and future plans.

just cause one person thinks they will explode not nessesarally true, if you go with the dual friction you'll be safe with high hp

Ever seen a centerforce shoot out of a bellhousign and chop through a car while goign through the track?

Pretty dangerous shit man.

I put in one of the top of the line DXD clutches and am very happy with it. It did cost $350 which is a little over your budget. But I at least feel that it was well worth the envestment. Stats say it can hold 450 horspower. Enguagement is smooth during a launch and only grabs slightly during a low power operation. You might look into cost of the next step down from the DXD six puck ceramic for your application. :thumb:

act2100 here, one of my first mods, mainly cause i bought the car with it slipping already. i love it and it felt like a whole new car afterwards. 350 bucks though, so id try to save for a wee bit longer till you can afford it, and prolly another 300 for install, unless you can do it yourself.

oh yeah, i drove for a while on a slipping clutch and messed up my flywheel and had to have it restepped(50 bucks), so take that into consideration when you say "well i can drive it like this for a bit longer" cause it could end up costing more in the end.

Centerforce Dual Friction here..was looking for a little more clamping load than the ACT 2100.. but didnt want the heavy pedal of the 2600..I fried my stock one at the dragstrip my first time out.. even with letting it cool down between runs.. hopefully this one will do me fine seeing as I barley ever launch it hard.. and never sidestep

Has anyone heard anything or owned a Daiken-Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit?

(Positive and Negative feedback is welcome)

I have never heard of the Daiken-Exedy, but I have the Exedy Cerametallic clutch and it works great. i love it. The clutch below mine is the organic which i heard is bascially the same as a stock replacement. I donno about stage 1 or what ever. Check the parts catolog.
