I have a 2g talon and everytime I start it it seems to tick for a few seconds until it goes away and runs fine. Does anyone know what this is?

4g63 or 420a?

Could be lifter tick, could be that you are low on engine oil.

Since you have not posted anything about anything you have checked, or anything you have done previously to try to fix the car; I reccomend opening your hood to check the dip stick to make sure the car is not low on engine oil

Sorry for not clarifying, it should not be oil because I just changed it 2 days ago with some Lucas mixed in, I'm not too worried about it because it's always been there but I'm just wondering what it could be

4g63 also forgot to mention

Well if its a 4g63 then it could be caused from a crack on the exhaust manifold, or an exhaust leak. If its bone stock its not likely an exhaust leak, if the car has been modified with an aftermarket turbo it is likely an exhaust leak

If not that, it could be the lifters after sitting lose some of their oil prime. Sometimes an engine flush like seafoam can help get rid of stuck or contaminated lifters by cleaning out any oil tarnish that may be in the oil passages in the head or lifters.

Really the only way to know is to have some one start the car while you listen in the engine bay to see if the tick is coming from the valve cover or from the front of the engine by the turbo

Take a video and share it here.
I would venture to guess it's the HLAs (lifters). Pretty common to get brief tick right at startup until they pump up with oil. It may or may not be an issue. How many miles does the engine have?
I replaced my "3g" HLAs and never realized how noisy they were all the time. New HLAs made a world of difference. I'd guess the old ones had at least 150k miles on them.

I'll see if I can get a vid of someone starting it and then send it here. The engine has 98k on it
