hey guys, well I can hear this squeaking belt noise when i start my car but the noise totally dissapears after i get up to operating temp. Im guessing the noise is coming from the accessory belts. Just wondering if this is normal or if theres a way to tighten up the belts?

just adjust the belts...push them down and see if there is any play in them...there should be very little. The power steering pump belt has a adjuster screw, not sure where the alternator one is...and the A/C one is somewhere near the A/C unit..i have to find it cause it sqeeks on my car too

You may want to pick up some belt conditioner at your local parts store and put on them. Sounds like they need conditioned since it goes away once its warmed up.

Just tighten the belts a little. I had the same problem, especially if it was cold outside. It ended up being my alternator belt. also check the condition of your belts and make sure their is no build up in the grooves of the pulleys.

I would not spray any belt dressing. :notgood: This will not fix the probelm.

Fixed mine.. You can't speak for all situations. One time mine just needed tightened up and another the dressing fixed it right up. If its new belts then yes it just needs tightened, if they are old then they may need some conditioner...

It is most likely the alternator belt because mine did the same thing. You loosen the screw on the side of the alternator then adjust the screw that is directly below the power steering pump. It is a bi*** getting tools in there though. :p :dsm:

Same here but, my alternator was bad. Replaced it and the noise was gone. Hasn't been back since. :talon:
