Ticking noise

so yesterday i started to hear a really weird ticking noise it appears to be coming from behind the intake manifold from above it, theres a little like sensor that looks like its connected to a bunch of little hoses that are connected to the manifold, ive heard that a lot of dsm'ers eliminate all of these hoses what can this ticking be?? ps.(sorry for that discription i dont know how to explain it better)

Put some Lucas oil stabilizer in it and see if it solves your issue

Is it coming from the emission solenoid, the one that has a vacuum line to the tb.

If it is where you say it is I guarantee it's a lifter tick. The oil ports on the lifters in our motors are too small so they tend to tick. I don't think it's harmful. When is the last time you had an oil change? Mine tends to go away with an oil change. Oh and is it cold when you hear it? If I start my car from a cold start in cold weather I usually will hear it ticking until the car warms up. Hope this helps!

I just had that same issue when I changed my timing belt tensior and water pump the noise went away I wouldnt rule out the lifters but just a thought before you pull the cams to do the lifters !

i think its coming from that emission solenoid because i touch it and i can feel the ticking is in there but thats just me, hope its not a lifter ill try some lucas and see if it goes away. thanks

I think My 2g is doing the same thing but i have other problems to figure out. The car was fully built with a 1g engine I have to wait to get the new starter in the mail beore i do anything else its not a lifter knock its electrical

Had the same issue. Sounds like lifter ticking to me also.

Hello!

Did not want to create a new theard, but i have some strange ticking noise coming from intake area too... It's sounds like a MTB (bicycle) when you don't turn pedals..
And it apears only on low rpm's 1500 - 2500... not every time... If i push on a gas pedal higher than 2500rpm the sound goes away, if i let my pedal off the sound goes away...
