Thanks Chris. It is a turd that's for sure. Might have to focus on some cosmetics this year.

You really should watch out for the little Asians and flying beer cans. They can be dangerous.

Oh and real men get around in a 2wd hahaha

I saw the car. And I still think its badass that you got another dsm. This mean you plan on more frequent visits here to the forums?

Thanks Joe! Nice to see you chiming back in! And really cool to see you with another dsm.

I'm trying to catch back up and be active on a few DSM forums. I intend to fully document the build of this new car too. So, you should see some stuff about that. Whenever I start...

Love those wheels Justin.

Congrats on the new best Justin.

I got my turbo all worked over and ready to go on the car. I believe the last of the small parts I was waiting on showed up yesterday, so I could have it installed this week. NED opens 2 weeks from Wednesday (if they'r ready), getting close.

Very nice Justin. Not many would have thought it possible to best Joe's time by two tenths or more!

I'm still trekking through the snow, making little bits of progress here and there. Hopefully in the next week or so it'll continue to warm up and I can get the process really moving.

Thanks guys.

I just don't see any reason yet to pull this turbo off. I see others upgrade turbos then build the car. The words later are "wonder what this would've done with the other turbo" I just kinda decided why not build the car around the 14b then upgrade later. So far all the changes are positive and I'm still getting good feedback on things I could change out to make the car better. So many things I still wanna try out. I do wanna give the A2W setup a try. I'm not getting huge gains of iats anymore but I think the shorter piping and less of a pressure drop across this huge fmic is what will make the difference.

And why not keep it up? As long as you keep having fun with it I say continue to improve the setup and the times. No point in upgrading just for the sake of upgrading. Plus there's more to upgrading then just a turbo swap unless you're sticking with something "small" anyways.

So what changes did you make over the winter? I expected to see the Hawver on already. I'm quite interested to see if there are any gains to be had by using it.

Well I downgraded my map sensor from a 5 bar down to a 3.5 bar. I downgraded my springs and retainers from the manleys to a shimmed evo 8 s&r combo. Went from 24x15" rears to the 26x17" rears. Added a kiggly crank trigger setup.

Now this last one I thought was going to be a wash. The intercooler I had was a slowboy short route. It came originally with 2.5 inlet/outlet. The guy I got it from had modified one side to a 3". That just happened to be the feed side on my car cause he had it mounted upside down. At the time it was what I had to work with. I ended up selling it and installed the same exact core but it has 3" inlet/outlet.

Now the old core, from the two step til I let off at the end of the 1/4 I would get a good 28-30 degree rise in temp. On a hot day it would get close to 120 or so. 115-118 on a 70 degree day with the underhood temps kinda cool. Id start the 1/4 with like 180-190 degree coolant temps. Now this new core I see a huge difference. From two step to let off I only got an 18 degree rise and that was even with my coolant temps starting at 206 and even ending at 216 on one of my passes. Very heat soaked. The AIT never went over 115 degrees.

I heard at one point slowboy used to use garrett cores when they first started out which is what IC #2 is. I don't know about IC #1, but they measured out the same.

I did have my highest mph of 128.29 this weekend and that was with 80 degree outside temps. In November the car wouldn't hit 128 in the 1/4 on a nice 70 degree day. It was 126-127. So Im pretty sure I found some power with my new changes.

I do plan on trying out that Hawver intake on this car. I just want to make sure its the only change I make just like giving E85 a try.

I would rather see you put a hotpipe on the car and run an alcohol based fuel. That is more weight savings right there. No need to be as concerned with the Iat's. You just dont want a ridiculous raise in temperature.

Are you running an external wastegate yet?

Our 14b car just is not exciting to me. Big horsepower spoils you I guess. I swapped a rebuilt turbo on this past weekend and it wasna dud. It had a death whine and was rubbing the compressor housing. Also had shaft play. All before it even came off the jackstands or got to 100* coolant temperatures. I have a perfect hx35 here i am just itching to put on this car. 2575lbs should not take much to throw around and be fast.

And I guess that's where I benefit from never having built a big horsepower car. I've driven a couple, but never had my own. :shhh:

At this point I cant really take anymore weight off unless its in the rear of the car. I don't think anymore weight Ill be fighting even more traction problems. I still have an easy 100lbs to take out. If I do A2W I plan to make a custom water tank that sits where the intercooler is now. That way its as far forward as It can get.

I am still running an internal gate. I would like to get my backpressures down some more I may try out the 8cm housing I have first before I go with a 38mm external.

Ive big turbo cars. Matter fact this car had a 6262 on it before my 14B ventures. Im having more fun now with this than I did with the previous setup and even more fun than with the 40R I had on my awd that went 9s.

I would much rather you do a hotpipe with water injection or some sort of multi-injector Fuel setup. We have seen some sweet gains with hotpipes.

I have been messing around with 600-900hp cars for years now. I guess I don't know really know any other way. We like nasty, violent cars.

We will see how things pan out. The one thing I love about the car is I get in fire it up and can run it at a 10.6-10.8 no matter what the conditions. I can hot lap it or whatever. Im trying to take that in consideration with my upgrades. So example I will not be doing a 16V setup.

I can with my hotrod as well. The staged injection only comes on when I need/mean for it to.

I've got the 14b on the car and ready to go! I may run it Friday. The only thing that might screw me is that I put the 28" tires on. Now I need to get the rear gears changed out or I'm limited to 165 mph, and my usual place is backed up. Not a problem on the 14b obviously, but I've got some other races coming up that I need to be ready for with the other turbo. We'll see how this goes.

I'm really worried that it's going to be a complete turd on my setup, but I have no problem sharing my failures with the rest of the world. If it doesn't break into the 10s at least we'll get a good laugh out of it. :D

Imagine the look on people's faces when they see this badass setup with big slicks on the back, then the hood pops and they can't even find the turbo! hhahahahaha
