The next race is Friday. And yea the 14b will be on the car. I need to test and make sure the trans is a step forward in ET before I do anything else. I've got most of it swapped over and have a bunch of little stuff to finish up. My new slave cylinder will be here thurs so I'm pressing it close. The trans shifted ok in my awd but I never had to shift quick with it. Being its a used stocker I hope it's up to the task.

Good point, one less bar would be worth the weight savings. So far the rulebook still allows it. One less bar for me to put in!

Only thing is if the factory crash beam is gone, then we have zero protection on that side, tough decision. If you're adding 70+ lbs back in, whats another 5-7 for alot more safety. Plus it'll help with making the chassis more rigid. That might help on launches.

So I went to the track with the Eclipse for the first time since September of 2011 when I ran a 13.3@104 with the stock clutch slipping. The only change was installing a new clutch (slightly used disc and PP, new Streetlite flywheel) and I still only managed a 13.3@104. So that was disappointing to say the least.

The positive I'll take though is that I know have a list of things to fix/improve.

-wheel alignment
-tire balancing
-a noise from the front left wheel
-ducting for the fmic/rad and air intake
-practice

Car is at ~2950 without me so I'll see what I can take out yet that I want to take out. Right now it's still my DD so I need the heater, cruise, stereo, etc.

I have a question for you guys whats the fastest 2g with a 14b ### you guys are making me want to keep my 14b on. I know I probably wont be as fast but to break 12s with this 14b would be nice

That's not a bad start for the year! What did the rest of the slip look like? 60'? Sounds like you know where to improve.

The fastest I see based on DSMTimes and the list here is 12.508. I want to assume it's been done quicker then that though. I'd say anywhere in the 12's is a worthy accomplishment though!

Best 60' was 1.845, so there's a little more I can get but not much. The stock suspension is too soft, open rear diff, and I'm spinning. I might try my winter tires next time, I hear that's like cheap slicks. LOL

I'm also gonna have to shim my wastegate, boost falls of hard, way too much for stock engine/cams.

My previous best is what's on my profile, and I didn't even beat. Hell I only mustered 102-103mph most of the time, I thought for sure I'd be upwards of 108.

There's definitely plenty to be gained in the 60' even on the stock stuff, but that would be my next modification most likely. I've heard the same thing about snow tires but I've never tried I myself.

You shouldn't have boost falling off too hard on the stock motor. I wouldn't worry about shimming the wastegate at this point on pump gas. What was you boost level at anyways? What are you using to tune with? Looking at a log may be helpful. Also shift points should be around 6500, revving higher is just going to make you slower, also what rpm were you launching at? Make sure that turbo is healthy (shaft play), and ensure there are no leaks in the system.

i was just talking to mike..last years best et was with a slipping clutch.

Im sure stock suspension is hurting..He said he was launching at 55 and 6k,but couldnt muster a better time.:(

Yeah I really need suspension, I just have no money. Tonight I'll upload a log (Link V3 with speed density) but I'm running 20-22lbs boost and it falls to 14-15 I think. I haven't done a BLT yet this year, so there's that to do.

I tried launching from 5-6k rpm with 5500-5750 being about the best and always shifting at 6500.

Right now I'm just excited to be back racing the car and figuring out how to improve, I missed that all last year! :D

Lower the boost, imho that's too high on pump gas and you're just hurting yourself. 16 psi is plenty to get into the 12's. What kind of timing are you running in order to not knock like crazy? Launch rpm sounds ok, I had the best results at 5250 on street tires. I'd lower that boost and see if you can supplement with some timing, I think it'll make better power.

To match your existing best number isn't that bad at all. Car is on the heavier side too. Get some more seat time and drop some weight and you'll be into the 12's pretty easily I'm sure.

So I finally have time to actually sit down on the computer here.

My best two runs break down like this:

60' 1.845
1/8 8.567
MPH 81.94
1/4 13.384
MPH 102.49

60' 1.858
1/8 8.576
MPH 81.99
1/4 13.388
MPH 103.54

I've attatched the two logs which I'm pretty sure are the right ones on the bottom. I guess look them over and see what you can. I'm still learning, especially tuning.

Next is gonna be cheap things like ducting, BLT, etc, but I'm gonna start saving up to do the suspension.

^Your 60' and trap speed has a 12 second pass written all over it! Go get some :)

Well, I would do things differently with the tune, but I'll preface this with my way doesn't make it "right". You Map sensor is saying you're hitting at high as 24 psi of boost, that's too high on pump gas in my opinion, you'll have just as good results with lower boost. I'd go with about 18 to be comfortable for now. Your afr's are in the mid 11's, that's leaner then I'd like to be on 93 octane, I'd try for closer to 11.0:1. Your timing map is going from approximately 9* from 4500-5500 10/11 from there and spiking from 6k-6500 up to 15*. I'd smooth that transition out. Going a little richer should allow you to add some timing in there to make it a smooth ramp.

Also I'm not sure how important it is on speed density, someone can chime in here, but the boostest is way off.

I'd look for some other opinions as I could be off base, I'm no Tuner. I just go off what has worked for me.

I can definitely try what you're saying, I mean, you have the results to back you up. LOL

And the pump gas I'm using is 94 with up to 10% ethanol if that makes any bit of difference.

Well, I've had pretty good luck ha ha, link forums is my friend for tuning! Ignore what I said reference boost east, doesn't matter on speed density. I didn't look at it in your log but on speed density you should try to have afrest and your wideband matching.

Yeah I try to match AFRest and my wideband, usually I'm pretty close in WOT.

It is true that comparing boostest to map doesn't do anything when you're on speed density. Boostest is based on airflow, which is based on MAP, so the two are mathematically tied together through the VE table. :) Boostest and MAP should match best wherever your VE table is 100%.
