Sooooo, anyone doing any racing or planning anything?

I've been held up on the funds end. Just had to drop a large sum on new tires, alignment, and brakes on the daily driver. So much for thinking I was saving towards a rollbar setup! But, this now has me thinking of testing my luck at Martin and seeing what they'll let me get away with. I just can't stand thinking about not running again until the shootout.
 
Got rid of my AWD Talon and picked up a FWD Laser. It has a few minor mods. The few that are helpful are a non cruise throttle cable (all cruise equipment removed), shifter base bushings, 190lph pump with rewire and a boost gauge. Others that aren't as helpful are a big rear sway bar and big front brakes with drilled/slotted rotors and hawk pads. Planning to take it to the track with the stock maf, stock boost, etc. It will be fun to get a baseline one that's pretty much stock.

Nope, just tuned the car for 16psi and that's about it. I want to get a welder so I can do some aluminum ducting/aero, plus I also badly need suspension. The creaks and squeaks are getting worse all the time from the crappy gravel roads I'm driving.

Sounds like the 16g thread needs some revival then. Just goes to show the dedication and interest when it comes to the little stock turbo, over it's upgrade brethren!

I fixed some boost leaks today, a few cracked vacuum limes, not really sure if they were there when I went to the track or not. I doubt it as I think they cracked when I was messing with the engine harness. Either way all better now! I should do a BLT to be sure, we'll see. Had some fun driving it around town today though, had to let it eat once or twice on the back roads.
 
I don't think so either. If so, that's the first I've heard of it.
 
I was trying to find where i've read it from. Im almost certain it was a rare option. Iirc it was a big or a small with a 8cm housing. The 8cm housing is as rare as the number of cars with the option.


EDIT: Ok, i know what i did. The 8cm housing was a factory upgrade for the 14b. The housing was the option, not the turbo. My bad.
 
Agreeing with Shane as well. Where did you find that an 8cm housing was a factory upgrade for a 14b?
 
So... when are we going to Martin? I'm still picking away at small stuff but nothing that'll put it down for more than day.. still have the stock bottom end for now.. when the aluminum rod setup is done it'll be down for a weekend.. hoping to get a 14b on it sometime before shootout.. let me know when and ill be there

I'll let ya know! The stock shortblock is severely underrated. :hellyeah:

Still false. Please stop spreading misinformation unless you have some supporting documentation to back up this bogus claim.

It was a post of jusmx i believe. But think about it, if it wasnt an option, then where did the 8cm dsm housings come from? They never came stock on the 14b's or 16g's, dsm or evo 1-3.

Mitsu made them for a reason.

Besides the starion/conquests came with a 14g (yes g) with a 8cm housing. Different bolt pattern. But essentially just a 14b with a 8cm housing.

So its not hard to believe they offered it as an option on the dsm. I remember reading an article on it. It mentioned that the increased lag caused for the low purchase numbers.


They are MHI housing that we had cast specifically for us since 8CM housing from MHI are almost impossible to get. So they are the same as the MHI 8CM housings of old.

They were made at one time.
 
The 2.0 4G63 is the only gasoline application the TD05H-14B ever came on, that I can find atleast. Because of this they put it in a 6cm housing.

The TD05-12A Starion turbo was put on a 2.6L, which is why Mitsu gave it the 8cm housing.

That doesn't make it a factory upgrade for the 14B. The 080 housing came on a 16G center section with a 17C compressor wheel. I think that turbo was called the "18A"

The 14G has a larger inducer and same size exducer. Its a 62 trim wheel vs the 55 trim wheel of the 14B


As landspeed stated, the 8cm housing came on the TD05H-18A turbo. It has the 17C wheel.
