Dear Mr. ex-Vice President,

Last time I checked, +/- 2 with a baseline of 10 was +/- 20%.

- J Toby

ps. please say "Hi" to Marilyn for me and, again, I'm really sorry about Cerberus

VALVING: Anywhere between like 5kg and 17kg

20% of 5 is ever so slightly different from 20% of 17, hence why I said PLUS OR MINUS 2KG. That does NOT equal 20%.

When you get a chance, look up "baseline" in the dictionary of your choice.

ps. that "of your choice" part was really just a polite saying, because it might not apply to you literally; after all, "baseline" is not in Yahoo's on-line Dictionary for Kids Dictionary - Yahoo! Kids

You mad, bro? It's just the internet.

ps. if it isn't 10, what is the baseline spring-rate on those BCs? Just askin'.

There is no baseline spring rate, you select the valve rate you desire and you're supplied with matching springs or additional springs + or - up to 2kg deviation from your valve rate.

If you're referring to off the shelf coilovers I don't know what spring rate or valving they come with.

The car featured on that website solely runs BC's, and has won multiple championships and races with zero failures running a 245 R-Comp. Works for me. Getting a set from them is better than buying off the shelf because you get to choose all your own specifications. That's something nobody else offers.

They also collaborated with BC to implement necessary improvements from their findings at the track.

The Euro guys are having good success with the BR series too.

Affordable but not shitty.
Just be careful in buying into a suspension component completely based on results from a different platform. Some of the coilovers that we consider crap for a 2g have actually been said to perform well on other platforms and have probably won races and championships too - but the comparison between vehicle platforms and even model lines for that product is rarely apples to apples. BC Racing might have a championship product for Nissans, but it might not translate to a 2g DSM - not saying it doesn't, but you have to be skeptical.

I'm hoping to hear back from BC Racing at some point. Sent them an email with some questions and would like to see about sampling some of their stuff to get a better feel for what they offer for our cars.

Great idea. Maybe 2JR can help out the DSM crowd. I know they take good care of their customers over there. I would send them the email instead of BC, they seem to know more about their products than BC does.

It also really depends where you're getting them from. Some people buy coils that have been sitting on a shelf for a couple years and have none of the new revisions. I see that happen a lot.

To add to your point, K Spprts are the absolute worst on the b15 platform. Some people have had three failures in 12 months, while over here people love them. I don't get it?

BC Lost its rep a long time ago over here with their old crappy design, I don't think anyone with any intricate knowledge of suspension has tried/evaluated a properly spec'd set of these on a DSM yet. I am eager to find out though.

When I get around to it, I'll be buying them myself, and I will also be road racing my 1G.

I wouldn't say people in the DSM world love Ksports - if anything, people love their price. I haven't heard anyone that has any real suspension knowledge or track experience say anything good about them. Most DSMers are cheap and simply buy cheap things. That's why they're popular around here.

The BC coilovers have about a 670/335 spring rate. As for autocross I run the BC coilovers on the stiff side of dampening. Its a slightly rough ride, but helps on the slalom. I still want a DG koni yellow set up. Also for the BC coilovers the softer settings are not to bad for street driving. I would listen to jtmcinder, Ludachris, and snowborder714 about suspension stuff.

Standard off the shelf coils?

I've heard a few people talking up the BC coilovers. Just curious, have any of those people with BC's run Konis prior to those? Can any of those compare the BC's to the DG Koni solution? How do they compare on the street as well as on the track? Just want to qualify the suggestions coming from these people. It's one thing to step up to BC's from Tokicos or KYB's and lowering springs, or just worn stock suspension, and like the BC's. But I want to hear from those that have had a quality shock like a Koni and are now running a BC coilover kit.

I know 2JRacing did some comparisons, but I don't recall which ones they used. I researched all this back in '09.

I'd like to see someone on here give 'em a try.

Oh, com'on. No vendor has ever compared their complete coilovers to Konis with sleeves. What Chris is asking for isn't going to come from a vendor. It can only come from someone who has actually driven on both.

dsmpat95 is, as expected, correct that the default rates for BRs for 2Gs is 12/6. (My most profuse apologies for thinking that it was 10 in the front.) If anyone is still thinking that these might be really good:

I wish I had taken the time to put my old Flex's on the shock dyno to get some plots. Maybe I can convince Kyle (owner of my Flex's) to pull them off at some point and put them on the dyno to get some numbers.

For reference, here's the Force v. Absolute Velocity graphs from my Koni front and rear shocks.

If you want any more info (or other graph styles such as Force v. Velocity, Force v. Displacement ["Football"], Rebound Close/Compression Open v. Absolute Velocity, Compression Close/Rebound Open v. Absolute Velocity), let me know.

I really want to run a car with the DG koni setup, so my input is just on the BC over a Eibach pro kit(lowering spring) and KYB GR2. The BC are an improvement over my last setup, It may not be the best improvement I could of went with.

I will stand behind Tein all the way. I have their Super Street Coilovers on my Honda and their Tein Basic's on my Dsm. Ive also installed them on friends cars and im very happy with their products. I hear alot of people supporting the Koni/ Ground Control setup and its probably also a great product. Just do your research and get what makes you happy.:thumb:

I feel like you aren't listening just because you want to be able to say " i have tein coilovers ".... these guys know
