OK what i wanna know is there any white plugs anyone knows of that i can buy to put in the holes left by taking off my stock GS spoilier till i can save enough money up to have the holes welded shut and painted over? Or is there any other quick solution to filling in the hole on my white car so it doesn't look to taky? Any ideas

I've been looking into this, as if I get a DSM I don't want the spoiler that a talon has. However, filling holes is expensive. I'm gonna probably get some sort of plugs, I have an exact picture in my mind of what they look like....just gotta go comb home depot or lowes to see if I can find them. Eventually, I'm gonna fill the holes though.

As for filling the holes, I'm thinking about a fiberglass cloth/bondo combo rather than welding, I was thinking that I could put the fiberglass cloth underneath the hole, attach it with a silicone adhesive so it doesnt shake loose from sub/bumps/etc., then fill in the depth of the hole with bondo and sand it till all is flat....primer it and then take it to a body shop so all they need to do is spray the paint, that might be a lot cheaper.

you can probably do that for the side hole but I don't think its going to be very durable for the middle hole where the wire for the brake light stood out. Im getting it welded soon. As for temporary relief, I sure like to know what you gals will do. :p

Ok well today i got my turbo spoiler for my 95 gsx, i knew there would be holes that would need to be filled left f/ the 3 pc spoiler...and ive always heard that the only solution to patching these holes is to get them welded shut and repainted over [or putting something in the holes which would look tacky IMO] but i dont understand why u simply couldnt bondo over the holes and then repaint? [id go w/ touchup paint since my car was repainted a year ago] i mean the only thing that i can understand why u wouldnt use bondo is b/c there might be a small little hump b/c i think it would be difficult to smooth the bondo over the holes w/o leaving an O ring mark around the hole...am i making any sense? i mean ive never heard of anyone doin this but it seems like a pratical and a much less expensive way, or have i jumped off the deep end and have no clue what im talking about?

Tried that on my talon. The ricer that owned the car b4 :( had a park bench on it. Tried that, and it came out SHITTY. So I claimed it on my insurance when I ran over a deer that the car infront of me hit (knew the body shop guy).

Well yea that does sound logical chrysler kid, but what if i where able to shove something done in the hole like say a rubber stopper or somtin that would be perfect size? would the bondo still crack over time u think?

tallen-how exactly did it turn out shitty? i mean if u were to be VERY careful molding it perfect i would think it would turn out good [then again i havnt tried it] besides it really doesnt take that much bondo [or so i would think]

Bondo just won't move with temperature at the same rate the sheet metal does, plus over time the polyester in bondo shrinks. I don't know if you'd have better luck with some epoxy product like JB Weld, it _may_ be more stable if it has a good backing.

The body shop that did mine didn't weld it. They used some different crap on it, which I'm not sure what it is. What color is bondo? I'm not sure this is bondo, it looks greenish/bluish and when I tap where the holes used to be, it sounds like metal.

Oh well, it was only $350 and they gave me a lifetime warranty on it. I'll probably pop the holes back out and tell him to do it right and weld them this time.

Bondo comes in different colors. Chances are what you are seeing is bondo.

But in asnswer tothe real question....The only proper way to fix those holes is to counter sink them, braze/weld metal in its place, bondo, sand, and paint. I removed the spoiler along with the molding that runs to the side mirrors on my 1g talon and exposed 34 body holes. I did this process with all of them. If you really want the final result to look good follow this process. If your just looking to plug the holes and have it look like crap you can try and plug them with something and bondo over top. Whatever you do decide on doing make sure you plug the hole with something before you bondo over top of it, if not the bondo will eventually crack and fall through the hole. Hope this helps with your decision.

I'm thinking about removing my stock 97 turbo spoiler, i took it off the other day just to see and the wholes are pretty noticable, and they kind of stick out. How can i myself shave the trunk lid to be smooth like the rest of the trunk. What will how need, estimated costs?

why did u take it off for?, the turbospoiler is nice dude... w/e yeah it should be around there, down here in south florida it would be like 150$ everything is cheaper down here ...

whoa and where is this place that u can find this crap for 150 bucks? the best deal i found for an entire paintjob here is 2300 to redo black, and 2500 for a candy orange (just hypothetically asked)

You're crazy taking the spoiler off. It serves a very important function in your car's aerodynamics.

I took the spoiler off of my 1990 talon along with the molding that runs all the way up the the side mirrors. Upon doing so i exposed 34 holes in the body which i'm sure are much like the one you have. I used a ballpeen hammer to counter-sink the hole then welded in aluminum peices of metal i cut to size then bondo'd over top of them and sanded them smooth. It isnt necessarily a hard process but it is one you may want to practice on some spare metal befoe you try it on your car. Keep in mind it was much easier in my case because i have the entire car sanded down to metal/primer. If you want to gurantee good results, take it to a body shop.

I hope your joking... These spoilers weren't meant to create downforce, they were meant to look good, which they do, but i want to switch it up. Plus, the spoiler is back on, i just removed it to see what i was dealing with.

You're right, spoilers don't create downforce, wings do. Spoilers "spoil" air flow to reduce lift, which is just as important.

i took off a supra style wing that was on my car from the previous owner. i just used some plastic to plug the holes until i can get some money to have them filled and repainted.
