All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.




I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

I had a similar problem years ago, same thing, came out from work to go home and crank, crank nothing. In the end for me it turned out to be a faulty Cam Angle Sensor.
 
Ok so i put a wire on the positive and scathed it on the signal wire and it makes a noise, so i understand the starter is good, my guess is the signal wire is what might me cut some were, does the wire go all the way to the ignition? or does it go thru a fuse, i believe i checked all the fuses, but it anyone could explain the diagram if the signal wire would be great, so i know were to check, or if someone knows my problem would be great if u let me know were to check, thanks
 
+1 On the check sensor recommendation. As a technician I know 80% of the problems I get called for is electrical. A good multimeter and patients goes a long way.
 
i installed my new bolt on turbo primed it and tried to start it. It was cranking but it wont turn over. I believe the car is not getting air to it for some reason. If i let the car sit for awhile then try to start it you can here the engine turn over for a split second then die. any advice will be useful thank you!

Sounds like the maf plug isn't plugged in all the way
 
First things first, check for fuel and spark. Then go from there, it's possible a plug came undone or something as well.
 
double check all your injectors as well.
check everything for spark ex. (ptu, coil pack's, cam and crank sensors)
the biggest problems can be fixed with the smallest solutions.
 
hey ! good thing you got your car running.~! i just rebuilt my 97 gst and i also have no spark.. i though it might be the coil pack . but my buddie let me use his and nothing:cry: i have fuel... but no spark .. any ideas? i would greatly appriciate it

so your engine turns but no spark right? try switching out sparks, i flooded my sparks and no spark till i changed them out and the engine fired right up

How do I change the sparks out?:confused: do you mean spark plugs? I went to auto zone and bought a new cas and still no spark.. and also I get no signal from the obd2 scanner .. .it doesn't connect to the car :confused: . Is it maybe a relay?? And also no power going to the ecu ..
 
Ok so here is my problem I. Got a 95 eclipse gst has a 98 head on it car ran fine then one day the car just woldnt start back up I'm familar with dsms been around them and can build them. Just not to good when it comes to this problem car has fuel pressure 43 psi compression 150 psi on all cylinders and has spark timing marks are all on it just won't start car puts too much fuel in and floods itself out what can b the problem I'm almost thinking its my coolant temp sensor if ud like I can explain it more if u wanna call me or txt my name is dylan number is 330-338-4812 thanks
