canada,
All "my car won't start" discussion threads are merged HERE. We've basically made it easier for those who insist upon not searching by grouping together all threads from those with similar issues so you can just scroll through and see some possible solutions. To search for info within this thread, use the "Search This Thread" feature in the black bar about 3" above what you're reading right now.

Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.

I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

Thanks

Thank you for that. I got most of that list checked out. Really hoping I didn't hop a tooth. Also if it was the alternator fuse it wouldn't charge, correct? I really don't think charging or battery power is an issue because like I said if I jump it from the positive terminal to the starter trigger it will start fine every time.. even right after it cranks slow with the key, if I hook up the jumper it cranks normally

Hey guys,

I replaced everything I can think of and still no start on my 95 GST.

I've replaced the following:

1) wires
2) spark plugs
3) coil
4) timing belt
5) crank sensor (it was throwing up code P0335)
6) fuel pump (new walbro 190)

and now 7) ECU

My car still won't start. It's got no CEL to scan. I've taken it to Mark Mitsubishi and they completely ripped me off (my car started before then; and now it doesn't; don't ask I'm suing them for a lot of $$ now)

I'm looking for suggestions on what to do to make my car start. It's a 95 GST (manual)

When you go to start it you can hear the fuel pump whinning, it's working (freshly replaced)

Before I go replacing 20+ other parts I'd like some help on this no-start issue I've been having for weeks.

PLEASE ANY REPLIES ARE APPRECIATED!

Did u try the cam angle sensor? check to see if u have spark in all 4 cylinders first. my cousins 95 gsx did that and it turned out to be the cam angle. if its not on the side opposite the cam gears then its right behind the intake cam gear. its a pain to get to.

Are your plug wires in the correct location? Have you checked all your fuses? Make sure your engine is well grounded to the chassis. Check all sensors are secure and in the correct positions. The crank sensor, cam sensor and A/C plugs are all right next to each other on your model.

Check all of those things than get back to us.

Does it crank or just clicks?

It indeed cranks.

Yes they are in the correct location. Had a blown engine fuse, replaced it.

Check for compression.

It's got good compression.

Anything else come to mind guys?

I read that no-start guide, didn't help me out.

Replacing parts won't do anything. You should of started with a voltage meter which I would see what has power and ground. Then find out what's loosing power or ground. Check coil sensors for power and injectors. You need a noid to check injector pulse ect..

What's the compression numbers? Just cause you hear the fuel pump turn on doesn't mean your injectors are spraying fuel.

Well somewhere you don't have one or the other do you have fuel pressure, fuel at rail, do you have spark how is the ecu, mpi fuse, ignition fuse, what did the dealer say was wrong or what did they fix, why did it go into the shop in the first place. When you picked it up did it start at the dealership?

Make sure your power transistor is connected good. I had a dyno session and after I got home car wouldn't start and as I was checking things out sure enough it wasn't plugged all the way in. Car started right up afterwards.

If its missing spark and youve replaced all the easy stuff i.e plugs wires coils, imo it has to be cam angle sensor. especially if its the kind thats underneath the intake cam gear. its a very fragile plastic sensor. chances are that its bro. 9 to 1 thats ## problem.

Im getting close to finishing this dsm build. Its a 96 gsx with a 98 7 bolt motor. I have the black box ecu and I kept the MPI relays, because the gold MPI box cant be used.

We I go to turn the key all the way...I hear one click. I placed my finger on the two black relays on top of the driver's side interior box, and I can feel them click when I go to turn the key, BOTH of them. It also feels like the little 10,20, and 30a fuses are doing the same thing, so It might be all of the relays doing this.

anyways, when I have the key to the ON position...the only lights on my dash are the BATTERY and LOW FUEL dummy light. the CEL never shows up or anything else. I had to go through and replace the: fuse box harness, engine harness that came with the 98 motor I have.

If anybody has any ideas, chime in. Im thinking this has to be a relay problem but not sure.

Also, I heard a humming noise coming from the engine bay that might have been the starter trying to engage? but the sound was really weak and It doesnt do that everytime

Check the starter wires. A bad ground or loose terminal will do exactly what your describing.

A couple things you can try to limit your odds are, checking the clutch cancel switch and the stock anti theft. My car has the stock anti theft alarm plus an aftermarket alarm. Some how both were activated and Unlocking the car with the aftermarket key pad let me in but when turning over ignition I just get a click. Had to shut all doors and unlock the car with the key and it cranked over fine.

Sorry to hear this. I might check into the Ecu itself. I know the light is suppose to come on for 5 seconds and turn off (if there's nothing wrong) when you first turn the key over. I don't know about it not coming on at all so I would check into that first.

Also check to make sure your getting fuel and spark. Check you cas and other related sensors and connectors to make sure everything is getting power and functioning properly.
