Could be anything from a loose battery terminal to internal engine damage, and literally everything in between which may involve the electrical, fuel, and ignition system...possibly even something that you screwed up while working on the car yourself. While it's unlikely we're going to diagnose and solve your problem over the internet, feel free to discuss any possible solutions.



I live in Canada and right now its not very warm out, about -30c
my car does not have a block heater too keep it warm.

I tryed to start my car this morning and it wouldent start, ive had this problem before but this time, the car doesnt crank at all it just makes a sound that sounds like an electric drill.

Whats wrong.

you live in ohio , yell out the window thst you need a mpi relay and im sure someone will throw one back at you.

Find a salvage yard or post in the classifieds. It's not your typical relay.

ill make a log but the only problem is i can't post it i have no idea how every time i try it never shows up on my lap top ! i know i ave the log but it doesn't appear

if i let the car worm up and if i shut it off and try to restart it it will not restart when it is wormed up it just cranks like crazy but if you help me post a log i will be more then happy to do so !

you need to go to advanced post and at the bottom youll see an attach file section but when you save the log on your computer you need to pay close attention to where you save it to and find it once you click the attach file button

its been like 6 months since i have posted a log here, so i dont rember how, but chances are you are not going into the right section of ## computer to find the captured logs, go into computer, users, ecmlink, data logs, whatever date. i think i havent even read a log in 2 months

ok so i changed both my relays and no i have fuel cause i can smell it out the exhuast but no spark. i think its my 1g cas because my car tended to misfire sometimes before and no i think it took a poop how do i test it?

a few days ago before school my car started very slowly, i mean the starter motor sounded like it was rotating slowly and car barely started. after school when i started it, it sounded even worse. the motor barely turns over fast enough to get going. i get home. turn car off. try turning it back on to listen to it again, motor slowly turns over a few times then dies. when i put key in ignition all the accessories work(stereo, headlights, dashlights). when i turn key to "star"t i hear a quiet single click but nothing happens, release key back to "on" and hear the single click again. that is all that happens and all i hear. battery is fine and terminals are clean. i tried jump starting it, both with another vehicle and a battery charger and neither work. please help all answers will be appreciated!!

check your signal wire going to your starter. if its not getting power then its the starter relay.

is this the wire that runs from the + terminal to the starter motor?

Are you absolutely sure it isn't the battery? I overlooked it and I had the same issue, my car would crank slowly and eventually turn on. I had a few jumpstarts but none worked. I tried my friend's battery and my car started right up. I had the battery checked and sure enough it was bad. Got a new one and problem did not return.


Here was the timeline of events for my no-start. Would crank slowly but start -> would crank slowly but not start -> Would barely crank -> No motor movement at all. Even at the no motor movement stage, I still had power to the battery, every thing worked except the engine would not start. Also in regards to the clicking noise, I had the same thing happening to me.

did the exact same thing happen to you? my trickle charger tells me my battery is fully charged as soon as i plug it in, and all the accessories work fine. just not enough juice to get the starter motor going?

Same exact thing, even the noise as well. Turns out when I had it checked, my battery was busted but it still had 60% charge. Idk, I'd suggest getting it checked out or borrowing someone's battery.

well i couldnt find a voltmeter around my house. but i found a bettery checker that had a 12v setting. the needle went to the low to mid "good" section on the guage.

pretty sure its your starter..
either its not connected very well or its bad..

Was it a carbon pile or load tester? If not the result is useless.

Really sounds like a battery issue to me.

ok figured out what it was. my two spark plug wires were revirsed, my friend was messing around with them when i wasnt looking and he doesnt know very much about cars. the thingstarted and fired up fine. now my starter is shot from cranking it. the bendix blew out so that will be fun.also i need to un plugg my maf because i started it yesterday and it ran like crap. i looked at the mafand i saw a wire that is ripping so that might be the cause.

i know this is a old post but it is not the temp sensor because i have the same problem and i swaped mine out four times and still nothing.

ok so i have spark and fuel now but its spitting and misfireing like cables are wrong but they are good. btw i have a 1g cas and i have inverted the proper wires for it

Ok so i have checked most of the basics of my issue, i have spark on 4 cylinders and 2 are bright spark and other 2 are a little dimmer , so i changed iginitor and coil pack and its the same. i check my fuel and i have pressure and my injectors are firing . my fuses are good and the car sounds like the video. remember the car started 2 nights ago when i jumped the starter relay , it ran perfect and then something caused the engine to blow the 20amp fuse and i had no spark nor fuel, so i replaced both the 20amp fuses and the mpi relay and i got both spark and fuel. WTF is going on like what do i dO???anyone?

If its not. Bad cts causes cold start issues and horrible mileage. This is/was a hot start issue. I.e. bad transistor/coil/crank sensor.

Hey guys , I've got handed down a project which is in dire need of attention from some DSM Guru's. This is where I've gotten with it with no luck... sorry im a 240sx guy LAWL. Its a 6 bolt 4g63t swapped talon , and the problem is that it was running about 8 months ago, they realized they had the wrong starter shim and pulled the starter off , I put the starter back on 100 times and the car wont start and im getting a weird issue where I seem to be having grounding issues from the battery relocation to the trunk... fuel pump getting full power , starter grounds getting hot, checked ALL grounds eveything checks out fine. I searched and searched but its too vague.

Here was me discussing it with my 240 guys , one of whom owns a GSX.. he say bad grounds but I dont see anything wrong.

So basically my friend who bought this car has no mech. skills and I dont want to see it just sit and lock up...please i apoplogize for being a newbie with bad grammar. I can take as many pics and videos as you guys need to help me figure it out.

the only thing i have not replaced was the cam angle sensor i just replaced the coil and the cts and the transistor.
