whats up guys....

i'll try to make this short. Well my microtech standalone blinks yellow when it is getting a signal from the cam angle sensor. But its not getting a signal so the car will not start. But when i take the cam angle sensor out (still plugged in with ignition on) i spin it and hear clicking or popping sounds and the yellow light on my standalone is blinking. But when i put the CAS back in and try to start the car it does not blink (no signal).

any ideas?

thanks in advance

Has the car been running on the standalone before? If it hasn't been before I wnder about wiring, specifically power supply. If it works with the key on, but not when cranking are you positive it is getting adequate electrical power? A bad ground, or some of the supply wires in th car shut down during cranking could do this easily. Make SURE the thing keeps getting power while cranking, also make sure the CAS gets power while cranking.

Sounds stupid but are you sure that the cams are moving when you crank the engine?
The CAS fits into the back of the cam. If you get a signal when you turn it by hand but not when the starter is cranking you might want to check the timing belt.

It could also be a bad wire to the CAS.

thanks for the replies....

but i'm getting power to my cas while cranking and the camshafts are moving....i even took off the cas and looked at the end of the cam moving just to make sure.

I'm trying to get my hands on another cas just to see if that changes anything, which i doubt it will.

any other ideas would be appreciated.....thanks

I thought i tested everything correctly but i guess not. Cause i get power to the CAS when th.e key is on but when i crank the power to the CAS goes away. The CAS is wired directly into my standalone so i dont know what to do about that.

Maybe i need a stronger 12v switched signal. Cause my test light dims on the 12v switched line to my standalone. I tapped for a 12v switched under the steering column(ignition wire)

I tapped into the ECU power supply wire for my MS. It has the relay that keeps power for a few seconds after you shut the car off and is obviously not interupted during cranking.

well i got my main power supply to the battery with a 15amp fuse like the microtech install instructions said. But i think the problem is the 12v ignition source/switched source the pink wire on the microtech. Where did you tap for that wire?

crazy...

I was intalling a Micro Tech lt10 with X4 box and 4 msd coils on a friends GST a few weeks ago and the only wire left to connect was the pink switch wire, (my friend had to leve country for a few months)

Where is the MPI relay and witch wire has the 12v switch suply?

ok guys, i got the CAS to give me a signal. i had to use a different 12v ignition signal because the signal was not strong when the car was being cranked and the standalone lost power.

But i'm still not getting any spark!!!!!

the standalone has 4 wires coming off of it for the negative side of the MSD coils and 12v ignition source for the positive side but still no spark.

Do i need my power transistor/igniter hooked up some how? Cause every thing is hooked up
and there is no extra wires.

please let me know
