Hello all!

About 2 months ago I ripped apart an old 1G ECU to use as an adapter harness for a Speeduino V3 DIY board, after assembling the board I went to crank over the engine and didn't see any RPM output in tunner studio. I made sure to jump the J5-6 pins to allow for hall effect sensors, messed around with the settings still nothing, and trippled checked that the crank / cam wires were going to RPM1+ and RPM2+ respectively, chalked it up to a "maybe I soldered the board wrong" and then ordered a Speedy EFI Fishdog ECU after seeing a similar setup with a 3000gt under this post - https://www.3si.org/threads/speeduino-guide.828329/ .

In a similar fashion I took my "adapter harness" and wired everything up, jumped pins J5-6 for hall effect, removed the VR conditioner. Again I was able to see the TPS working, all temp sensors working, still no RPM. Below is the pin out they gave me, written in pencil is the OEM pins I am using to bridge everything together:

It looks scary but I'm planning on tidying up once I know everything works.

This is the reference chart I have been using to pin everything together.

Currently I get power from pin 107 (I don't use 102 because they are the same thing I believe). I also don't use 103 as I haven't gotten the 12v battery backup to work with this setup. This means my ECU remains powered on all the time (even with the key not in the ignition), which would drain the battery. If anyone knows how I could set that up so it would turn on with the key (my guess is using pin 110 for 12v power?).

One thing that I have noted is pin 66 and 56 currently don't get grounded to the ECU (I only ground off 63), so that would result in spark, fuel pump, or fuel injectors not working potentially? Something I have speculated, is pin 13 says " Fuel pump voltage monitor input", where as I wired it to the "Fuel Pump trigger", which may not be the same thing... Secondly, if my cam / crank are wired into the correct ports on the Speeduino ECU, and I have the hall effect jumper pins configured correctly (shown below), then is there a configuration setting inside tuner studio that I could be missing for that not to work? Here are the settings I am using currently:

NOTE: I do have yellow top injectors from a EVO 3, so not stock fuel injectors for a 1G DSM.

The VE table was generated, so I don't expect it to be 100% accurate.

I can grab other information if needed to help in diagnosing. Would definitely appreciate all the help I can get here!

You won't be sequential injection. You'll be semi sequential unless you're using a different cam/crank sensor or wheel.

I think you can pull up the crank sensor input signal on tuner studio no?
Is there anything coming in?

Or you can rotate the cam sensor by hand with a multimeter on the output pins to see if they trigger.
Is the CAS getting powered?

I swapped it over to semi sequential in the software, there is a "tooth view", when I crank I don't see it come up though. I know the sensor works because my OEM ECU works just fine. The sensor is getting powered as well. I have some pictures below

Rotate the sensor by hand with multimeter on it and see if its sending signal.
If it is, ecu problem. If not, cas issue

If you going to turn it by hand, connect a multimeter and measure the voltage on the Cam and TDC signal lines. They should toggle between 0 and 5v as you turn the CAS. If the stay at 0 double check that you have +5 with the CAS disconnected. Also a good time to make sure the CAS is getting +12 and has a good ground.

So quick update on the Speeduino ECU. I GOT IT WORKING!

Turns out it was sort of a CAS issue, sort of an ECU issue, apparently because of how the 1G's are designed, if you want to get that sensor working with better sensors like Kiggly (which I currently DO NOT have but want to upgrade to in the future) you need to cut the 2nd cam tooth for the values to make sense with the 4G63 trigger setup.

You can read a full write up here on Kigglys website - https://www.kigglyracing.com/_files/ugd/0a98b0_166c766da1b94033bc0f89f49f8e6212.pdf. I appreciate all the help!

Hope this forum helps the next 1G guy with a speedunio.
