How exactly does it work?

how accurate?

What do I need to set it up properly?

Can I do it with minor mods such as: 560cc injectors/walbro 255, small 16g, and a front mount? maybe a few other things

Can it be done with an all stock 90 turbo engine?

price range for doing this setup?

for what you're trying to do you don't need speed density, just an safc and a wideband would be perfect to monitor and tune you're set up(I switched to dsmlink and have an safc for sale btw if you want it)

you need some sort of stand-alone system to use speed density to tune it with, the sensors for speed density as well

May I ask why are you interested in doing it in the first place?

ive been hearing everyone going back and forth about the 3in gm maf set up and speed density. I understand the 3in gm maf set up but know nothing about speed density

what is safc? and i was thinking about dsm link v3 lite for basic tuning.

You could get one of these http://www.moates.net/ostrich-2-0-the-new-breed.html plus a Gm IAT and Gm 3 bar map sensor go to this site and get jackal DS-MAP - Index and have Speed density with full control of timing and fuel plus all enrichments and some decent data logging capabilities. If you dare to delve further into the DSM ecu for MAF or SD tuning with countless and endless possibilities. Sign up on DSM ECU | A Place For Car Tech Enthusiasts

There will be people that are probably gonna criticize me for posting both of those sites in a signal thread. But im on on both sites and both have very good info about countless topics with very very knowledgeable people. People that know how this ecu works internally.

safc is just a cheaper way to tune you're fuel system and air...ecm is the way to go but you need to definitely need to get a wideband too

I guess it would help if I enlightened you all on what im looking to get out of my car. Im looking to get somewhere in the 250-300 wheel range here in colorado with little modding.

ive been told 16g, 550cc/walbro 255, dsm link, front mount, wide band, boost controller, and more than likely a better clutch would get me there.

I am planning to go the speed density route as soon as I get some more cash flowing my way. From what I've herd, it's much more precise, and is over all a better way to tune a car. It makes sense to me so I'm going with it.

Safc is pretty much redundant these days. Once you get a safc, and a logging setup your v3 lite budget.

:hmm: you might wanna check your math on that one, and it would be fine for his goals. But its definitely smarter to get link because of how much more you can do.

i had a SAFC2 for the longest time. was even able to get 720 injectors to work pretty decent with afc and 2Gmaf. once i got dsmlink i just sorta kept the afc installed. it only has a street value of like ahundred bucks and i bought it brand new so sellin it seemed dumb. i have dsmlinkV3 but still have afc in car. it pulls NO correction at all. i just use it as a tach cause it has shift light and peek and hold so i can push the up button and see how high i rev'd. but for what he's doin i would definatley agree that a used afc bought for a fair price of about 80-100 bucks, install it your self and it would work to the 250-300whp goal exactly what your shootin for. dsmlink is 500bucks plus. AFC used from a buddy is 80bucks. the money saved could go to other things to help get you to that HP goal. AFC sucks compared to link but it STILL WORKS THO. id kick around the idea of buying a used AFC if i were you.
