Ok here it goes. I want to start setting up my SD but I have a old 2.5 intake pipe going to a old green and I want to switch to the FP intake. Can I set up my maps with the smaller intake on there or should I wait to get the FP one....But then comes another question is venting the bov mess with setting up the maps for SD. I have evoscan and ecuflash by the way.

It doesn't matter what intake you use with SD since the MAP sensor should be mounted close to the throttle body. Like on the throttle body elbow or the intercooler pipe that connects to it.

The MAP sensor will read the changes of pressure that the BOV opening causes. There are no ill effects to venting to the atmosphere with a speed density setup.

Correction it should be behind the throttle body not before.

IAT placement technically would be better if positioned closest to the cylinders. Problem is, the intake mani gets heat soaked and depending on the sensor used, can effect the performance.

I have all the sensors in already and know about SD. My main question was while I am setting up my maps with the MAS still hooked up will it make it harder to get things set-up because the VE will be different with the small intake pipe compared to when I switch to FP, but again if I put the FP one on before I fully switch, will that make it harder too because I have to vent the BOV with the MAS still hooked up. Hope I'm explaining this right.

Obviously you cannot run a Maf with the BOV vented. If you were tuning with link you could get a really good base map with the maf and then swap to SD. Then install the new FP. After that it would be a fine tuning deal.

Great, thats what I was thinking. I just wanted to make sure I was not shooting myself in the foot..Thanks guys..
