This took place at the end of last year but I'm finally able to release it. I was asked to do a photoshoot and video for our local fire departments.

I'm always stuck in the office going over prints and upcoming jobs that it was nice to be able to go back out in the shop to fabricate. We have 3 plate roll rolling machines one being a smaller 3 roll then a 4 roll both seen in the pics. We do have a massive 3 roll machine in the back that can do 1" thick plate but it's a multi person job so i always forget to snap a pic.

I don't see too many 6 cylinder motorcycles, but I had one hauled in today. I have to see why it's leaking oil and most likely rebuild the carburetors since it sat for so long. This bike weighs over 800 pounds so it's a little harder to keep vertical compared to what I'm used to. I'll figure out though. I've heard these Hondas ride very smooth.

Thing looks like a beast to handle. Wouldn't want to try keeping it from tipping over.

I recently had a 600lb Yamaha V twin and I managed that but felt iffy. I guess I need to strengthen my legs a little and hone in my balance. The local motorcycle repair shop shut down since the owner Scott retired, so I'm quickly getting all of his customers. I have to be ready for anything if I want to keep pursuing the cycle game. I already hired his technician which is my neighbor. I'll have the skills and expeeience in the coming years to do what Scott did - and even better. Funny how a guy that likes repairing lawn mowers suddenly can't catch a break from his phone ringing and fixing motorcycles.

Things like that happen all the time in life. Hopefully it is very fulfilling for you, because in the end, that's what really matters.

rebuilt and b20z2 swapped my integra after the original b18 had timing belt failure. third timing belt but snapped anyway at 295k

I made a batch of electric fan Delay Boxes so my cars with Electric Fans have about 10 seconds after key on before the fans can come on, if they are supposed to. I'm putting them in our Camaros and I use one in the Red TSI.

My 911 is stealing time from my 1G project again. I got rear-ended in September (minor damage, rear bumper just needs a respray) but it set off one of those "well, if it's going in for paint I might as well..." chain reactions of other little things I want done to the car.

The big one was the front bumper. I've always wanted to do a GT2 conversion but Porsche currently wants $7200 dollars for an OEM GT2 bumper cover (plus another $2000 for the ducts, vents, and misc. hardware so no way in hell I'm paying that. Luckily, a company called NR Aero makes a very good polyurethane replica that is under $2000. It needs a little massaging for proper fitment, but overall not bad at all.

I'm just so completely envious of your garage.

It was a long time coming. I hadn't had a garage since high school in the early 2000s. Finally got one when we remodeled our old house in 2018, but there was only enough room for a one-car plus small shop area. When we found this house in 2022 the garage was one of the biggest factors for me wanting it. If I'm being picky, I wish the ceilings were at least a foot higher, but I'll live.

Wrangler in for a whole slew of suspension work after 276k. That 4.0 sounds like a diesel but keeps going.

You’d be surprised what comes in. This one driving normally. I also had Mini Cooper turbo with the lower hose just not connected. Driving around like normal.

GLA250 with a chip and no muffler 🤦🏻‍♂️. Cant understand why he wants it reliable now after beating on it. This $3k turbo job was after a regular maintenance plugs, fluids, coolant leaks, intake to turbo at another $2k+.

My buddies Mustangitis always comes with fixes. This is a 96 Cobra. One before that 01 Cobra. Brand new 24 in there. He has a problem because that’s a couple years.

I hadn't posted an update on my 91 F150 project, but I got the truck running before the snow hit around thanksgiving.
First, I took it to the trans shop to have the TV/line pressure adjusted. (AOD)
Then I had to re-do I-beam/radius arm bushings and sway links in Poly. I swear it handles nicer than my 2013 now.
Managed a few hundred miles and with longtubes and 3" single exhaust it sounds proper now too.

Perhaps the highlight of the shakedown drives...an older guy in a 2020's F150 ecoboost approached me at Menards about doing a straight trade for my 91. I didn't proceed obviously, but it is pretty cool to take a non-running truck that my wife hates and have somebody looking to trade for something far more practical and civilized than our 'good' truck.
And then come home to tell her about it. :p

The ECU is speed density/archaic OBD1 and I've done some things to throw off calibration. (HO firing order, deleted parts, roller cam, ported stock heads, headers)
When the weather comes around, the next chapter is installing PimpX; which is Megasquirt 3 PNP in a Ford EEC-IV case.

And with that, I'm officially back into re-rebuilding my Talon.

I love this. My wife keeps urging me to sell the '72 F100 to get something more practical. I've been living way too practical for way too long. I'm not letting go of any more cool shit.

I got one of the projects washed up. She was looking rough without a cover on it sitting in my side yard.
So the plan again is a 300 swap front end, get her rolling right and probably paint before I sell to fund something else most likely the DSM or house.
She sits on 392 factory wheels, a 2” drop on Eibach struts, adjustable control arms for camber and complete suspension overhaul along with the everything else that was neglected over the years. I had tapped someone on the highway years ago and just lost the mojo on this one. 55mph, every single car went brake lights at the same time, the two cars in front of me split and there was someone dead stopped on the highway. Looked to my left, car taking the shoulder. Look to my right someone. Hit the brakes and hit an Accord doing 10-15mph maybe. Everyone was alright but dang. Blew the entire left side out. Didn’t push fenders or anything. Somehow pushed the radiator and core support but the bumper was fine. Weird

First time using HPTuners today. This is going to be a learning curve for me as Im so used to dsmlink. First thing Im noticing by just poking around is the XY axis on their tables are opposite of 'link so I'll have to rewire my brain on that. For now Im focusing on the shift points and did notice odd ign timing through a pull so will mess with that. End goal is to single turbo the car on low boost and have the shifts tight.

Youtube and their forum are my only resources at this point. If anyone has experience and tips, I'd love any advice.

The fun began yesterday. Hope to have the old trans dropped out and the lower mileage replacement in the Corolla today.

Wasted too much time and busted knuckles on getting the driver side axle out. I ended up using pliers and tapping it. I really need a tool for that. It wasn’t this tough when I changed them last summer.

Wish I was working on something cool but this is what my life is these days - keeping my daughters mobile. My youngest will be driving this (her sister’s) car when she gets her license in a few months. My oldest is in college and doesn’t need a car at the moment.

Workin on the Prelude. Bled the brakes and fixed the passenger side shock. The bushing at the top of the shock was getting eaten up. Turned out to be an easy fix. The threads got a little eaten up (probably when i tried to use some vicegrips to prevent it from turning before discoving i could use a 8mm line wrench), preventing the nut from tightening all the way down. Took it for a test drive to see if these random misfires in all cylinders was going to come back after replacing the ignitor. So far....no codes. I wanted to take it on the highway, but there is this new knocking noise coming from the rear drivers side. After jacking it up, everything back there seems tight and no torn boots. Hopefully i have a chance to take a closer look at all the bushings this week.

Changed the oil in the Edge today, which is officially been relegated to the wife's daily driver status. There's an oil leak that I can't really find, but is probably a VC gasket or something. I'll find it later.

But, since it's got 120,000 miles on it I switched to the high mileage formula Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic. I'm sure it doesn't do much, but it makes me feel better. I also scored and found some NOS of the older Motorcraft filters with plastic end caps. Win!

That makes basically 70,000 miles it's been tuned and ripping like a champ. Modern cars are amazing. Inside the VC/inside the cylinder head still looks silver/new. Crazy. It's only ever had Pennzoil Ultra Platinum run in it and OEM Ford oil filters.

I also have added a 2011 Cadillac CTS 3.0 Base RWD to the fleet. I'm driving the car as a commuter car for a friend while I work on it and fix little issues. It bleeds fuel pressure out overnight or over 8 hour periods and as a result cranks for an extended period of time, and has a rough idle but otherwise, it's pretty solid. God it's slow compared to the Edge though.

Spent time both days working on this. Yesterday I was able to drop the old transmission and bolt in the replacement - lining that thing up to the engine was fun. I still have to put the axles back in and reconnect everything but all of the hard stuff is done (I hope).

Man, I'm getting old. I'm sore all over LOL

What could be more practical than paid off and no smog check? I used to have '66 F100 with a 300 Inline 6 and a 4 speed with granny gear. Could pull a stump out of the ground at idle :D But I'm nearly 6' tall and the cab wasn't super comfortable, so I sold it to my sister.

I just spent the last couple weekends doing work on my babysitter's '01 Honda Accord in exchange for babysitting hours. Replaced her fuel pump, alternator, power steering pump and flush, new belts, and new brake pads and rotors all the way around. Had her get the timing belt and water pump at the shop that gave all the estimates, cause I just don't have the time for that. Got myself 48 hours of babysitting time coming to me now W00t!

I finally gave up on other methods of security and went all out on cameras. I've installed a ton of motion sensor LED lights around the property to hopefully scare off any night lurkers. But my address is all over the internet and I have some very expensive bikes inside. So I figured the shop needs some cameras now. I must say that I'm very impressed with the Wyze cameras that I've picked up. I did have to run some extra electrical, but totally worth it. The cams are like $30? Or so each. High quality image day and night. It buzzes my phone anytime motion is detected during the hours which I've selected. I have the option of saving recordings onto an SD card or to upload on the cloud. I can open the app on my phone at anytime from anywhere and see the livestream from each camera. And the monthly subscription is very affordable. The subscription isn't necessary to install or use the cameras but I wanted the extra features for peace of mind. Makes me wonder why I waited so long!

Also those scrapes on the aluminum trim below the camera were from a 1988 Honda GoldWing with extended CV antennas. The doors are only 7ft tall for this shop. I'm blueprinting another shop with 9ft doors in the back half acre, and I'll have to share that one soon :)

I'm back building computer stuff for maintaining my 50 Y.O. personal computers. This morning I did a quick mockup of the LEDs to see if I could come up with a color scheme that might make it easier to quickly grasp if it's working and in not what might be acting up.

Parts arrived from California in the afternoon mail and spent the rest of the afternoon soldering until I reached a point where the LEDs are getting installed and I'll have to make a decision.

In between I managed to go do some touch up work on my TT but I won't be able to finish up the brakes until after back surgery and recovery.
