Boarding up house for hurricane Milton. This is the first time I’ve been this concerned living here for over 20 years. This one coming right over us it looks like. Oh vey.
Prayers for you and everyone in it's path. It isn't a weak storm by any means right now, be we will surely wish for the best. Get prepared and stay safe my friend.

Got started boarding up tonight, called it quits when my back did after dark sometime. Got a DSM to protect in that garage! And a crap ton of parts upstairs! Lol.

A lot of models are predicting it'll significantly weaken, but there are a few that show it staying at least at Cat 4. The models are apparently all split 50/50 on what will happen. Hopefully it weakens significantly.

If it doesn't, that area needs to evacuate. I have been through the east of the eye on a strong Cat 4 storm, and if one of those comes my way again my family and I will be leaving Florida.

I don’t think most people understand how bad it will be if Tampa bay gets the east side of this storm. Hasn’t happened in over 100 years. 12’ storm surge means Pinellas county is gone. Glad I’m a little inland but it’s still unnerving. My brother-in-law lost everything in Treasure Island last storm, had 5’ of water in his house, this one predicted to be twice as bad.

It's almost a record. It dropped officially below 900mb a few hours ago. Winds of 180mph. This is gonna be one for the records, if it stays this strong.

Not trying to be a pessimist but honestly the only hope right now is that it weakens. If it stays this strong and hits land, we're talking about a clean sweep of the map through its path.

Seriously. Anyone in that cone needs to evacuate. Work ain't worth your life.

Dry winds at 60mph can cause serious damage. When we're talking 100+ mph winds with heavy rainfall, get the hell out of the way. It's coming through one area or another, just don't be there if you can help it. I have entire flash drives of storm damage pictures taken from Polaroids over the last few decades that affected or killed my family and friends. They all knew what was coming but decided to stick with their property. I wish I could go back on multiple occasions and force them to leave. It's better to lose most of what you own than your life and family.

That being said we're going to stay wishful for the best until it's all over, but at that point what's done is done. Don't be one to hang around thinking everything is alright when it's not. This storm will bring serious damage to someone, and while we're not sure who just yet, don't let it be you. That applies to everyone in the predicted paths. It's all just a graph ot illustration until you're face to face with something that no human could overpower.

Prayers/hopes/wishes out to everyone. Best case this will only affect a few people. Worst case, immeasurable damage and loss. Make good decisions to protect yourselves and your family. Possessions are replaceable, lives are not.

I mentioned in another thread I’ve had my garage clogged with everything other than 4g63 junk lately, and brings me to the realization a bunch of us have other garbage to work on wether it’s a daily, winter beater, another fun project, etc, many of us constantly curse ourselves to working on something no matter what it is so it gave me an idea for a thread just to start the small talk. I figured I’ll get the ball rolling.

Currently I’m working on my ‘06 Crown Vic Police Interceptor I call “deep cover”. This has been hands down one of the best cars I’ve ever owned, my wife daily’d it for 6 years hauling the kids to and from school and going to the grocery store. I’ll say from experience, an old police car is ideal for hauling kids around between the vinyl flooring and deferring some from driving like a jackass when they see what looks to be a police car. We have grown to a mini van family so it’s my beater now, I swore up and down all summer I’d fix it and of course procrastinated until I put my ‘94 Ranger in winter storage next week as I’ve dailyd the Ranger since roads got clean in the spring (The DSM and the Ranger don’t come out from early November to mid April, roads are a salty wonderland in that time frame here in Ohio). I bet anyone familiar with the Ford modular V8’s can guess what occurred here…

Helping a friend replace the bed frame on his '06 Ford Ranger. Got the bed off, took the old and rusted frame off. Lots of grinding of rivets to get it off, followed by lots of grinding/removal of surface rust on the replacement frame. I'm prepping it to apply a undercoating before I install it back on the truck. It needs rear shocks and the leaf spring brackets, evap canister to be swapped over to the new frame.

Some lady hit his RF tire bending the steering tierod for this roadster. He wanted me to drive it and I obliged him. Replace the bent tierod that mounts to the knuckle, align and see what happens. It cracked the chrome so that was pretty easy to spot.
He’s an old Topgun pilot that once had an alcohol dragster so he’s still chasing that thrill with this thing.

Played with the e30.

Bled the new 6 to 1 boosterless brake system, mocked up the dash to make sure wiring is hidden and moved the power window switches to the dash.

I love that porsche, but I still don't fully comprehend the 60-130 times. Wish people would post 1/4 mile runs or 0-60's too.

I'm teaching myself TIG welding and these are the first passes on stainless. Still messing with all things setupwise, tweaking here and there. Pumped overall and most importantly, just having fun.

Need to get my Tig hooked back up and start practicing. Not bad looking, better than my last ones

Looks great to me. I should've sent you my Clevis and had you practice on it. :p

But, sad to hear about you having to burn your garage to the ground due to the scorpion. What's the plans for the new garage replacement? Because we all know the rule is finding 1) Giant Spiders or 2) Scorpions in your property means it must be cleansed with fire. And curse words. :p

Also: WTMF! I didn't even know Scorpions were native to TN.

Your coupons don't look too bad. You have to much heat though. I would set your max amps to no more than 85 amps till you get better control of the pedal. What size cup are you using and what's your pressure at the regulator? You want to try and keep your HAZ (Heat affected zone) to a minimal. The haz is the line above the bead.

Absolutely, man, do it! It's always a good time practicing.
Thank you.

Hahaha, you could've!

Yeah, those little bastards...no bare foot walking around this time of year. They're not very big, but still...LOL.

Thanks, man! I switched to a standard size torch with 1/8 red tungsten. That pass was maybe 100 or so amps? I can't remember exactly. Standard cup/.5/.75? Have to check on that. Pressure was 25-30 on 100% argon. Yes, I saw that but wasn't sure if that was ideal. Killer welds, man! Hell yeah.

Restored zen in the garage, it was a dump and I wanted it cleaned up for winter. The snow is going to fly in a week or two, but it’s ready for a 5-month nap. The Neon didn’t get done this year, hopefully ready to go when the streets get swept in April or May.

I had to help the community tidy up a bit. The other day I heard a loud crashing sound and tires screeching. Elderly neighbor ran up on the storm drain lid and hammered down in reverse trying to get off. I ran down with a floor jack and lifed her car off. The transmission cooler line was tangled and sprayed fluid everywhere. I helped her get it towed to a local shop for repairs and called the city to get a new lid installed.

Trying to get my storage shed built before colder weather comes in, but I've had some kind of flu bug for the last 3-4 days and the next few days it's supposed to be nice, but WINDY. 45 MPH gusts. I can't put up a tin shed in wind like that so it will wait until I can get some help. Not much left, as I pre-built all I could in the shop but it takes 4 hands to do it. I'll get it built, but it may take another month. I have the floor structure built and leveled the best that my existing foundation will let me and I am anchoring ⚓️ it to my pad with concrete anchors. I wish I hadn't wasted the weekend being sick, it would be built and secured in NICE weather. 😐
