I love that porsche, but I still don't fully comprehend the 60-130 times. Wish people would post 1/4 mile runs or 0-60's too.

I respect that. I struggled with how to value 60-130 too, but got around to seeing it as a better measure of seat of the pants experience from a roll than trap speed. I almost never find myself in races that start from a complete stop, but I do have fun from a roll all the time. So, the 60-130 became a better basis of comparison against other cars for roll racing (IMHO) because my trap speed was more susceptible to the quality of 60ft and traction in the quarter mile runs.

By the way, my car traps around 147mph on pump 93 in south florida.

Okay. So I'm assuming that 60-130 time is a good indicator of a (roughly) low 9 second 1/4 mile pass.

What's a rough 60-130 time table for other 1/4mile times. Like X second 60-130 for a 12 second car, X for a 11 second, etc?

More like mid to high 9s at 5.23s 60-130. Not a perfect science, but here is a chart with various 60-130 and 1/4 mile results for some interesting comparisons: https://www.dragtimes.com/vbox-60-130-times.php#google_vignette

911s are also a really weird platform to drag race with. I've dragged my 996 Turbo a few times and they do funny things in that type of racing. With the engine in the back you more or less have "too much" traction for launching so it's really easy to bog it down and you have to really slip the clutch so you don't break things so my 60' times are always pretty pathetic. LOL

And then (at least with my car), 1st and 2nd gear are really short so you waste a lot of time shifting at first, and my big turbos don't really come to life until 3500-4000rpm and then the car pulls like a freight train. Once I'm into the higher gears with full boost I make up for lost time as 911s are really designed for higher speeds. My 1/8th trap will be around 7.9 seconds at 93mph, but 1/4th trap is 10.5-10.9 at 130+.

And keeping with the theme of the thread, I need to do a bunch of maintenance on the 911 this winter, namely plugs and coils which are a huge pain in the ass on these cars. I also need to redo my fuel system (pump, lines, injectors) because I'm out of fuel at my current power level.

Freakin' love the old 996 twin turbos. I think my second or third job ever was maintenance/light duty tech for a cab company in CO, and the owner stored his Porsche 996 TT there. If you were lucky they'd let one of us pull it out and of course, had to test drive it. Can't remember how old I was, maybe like 16, but being in that car felt like the hand of God pushing you back into the seat. I know they aren't "fast" by modern standards, but that was lightspeed for young me.

Love those cars. If I ever get into any kind of money I will 150% be that dude who buys retro porsches and drives them around. I want a twin turbo 996, and either a GT2 RS or a GT3 RS. Droooool.

I am using the rainy days here to get the next shortblock built. It's an 817 casting 2 bolt main 400 SBC. I finished up the bottom end yesterday. I'll go back over it as a double check, but glad mother nature made me stay inside. I was able to fill out all the blank spots on the build sheet too, which is fulfilling to me. :thumb:
The crank spun like butter with 1 finger on the wrench but the cylinder walls are snug, at .003" PTW clearance. That is within the specs for the Keith Black Claimer Hyperutectic pistons that will yield about 11:1 compression with the 200cc FloTek heads that I modded for use on a 400 with steam holes.
Big roller cam (.600" lift 304* duration)
200cc Aluminum Heads
Roller Rockers
Rev Kit
Knockoff Victor Jr intake
We'll be running Holley EFI on it in my son's 1986 Z28 with the 700R4 trans and 3:73 rear gears. "Stay Tuned" for updates or go over to my IG or YT page.

It's 90% prep and cleaning and checking clearances but when it's all said and done and you fire one up for the first start ,AND NOTHING SOUNDS ODD, it is instant gratification! :thumb:
Anyone can do it. The right tools and years of experience make it fun for me!
Weather it's a 4g motor, a SBC or my simple Saturn motor, they all make me smile when they start up for the first time. My little Saturn 2.0L has ALMOST 100k on it and I taught my son how to rebuild motors when we did it on the back porch floor (it's ALL aluminum, so we could carry it out).

EDIT: I forgot to say "Stay Tuned", there's some badass shit going together here in my shop.

Been working on my RC cars a lot lately. New track opened in my home town, and between this, and dsms my wallet has been feeling it!

I very nearly got into RC nitros back in university about 20 years ago. If I did I would have been speed running to bankruptcy

Jesus. 20 years.
Yup. This RC car is about 3k in parts. This and DSMs really drain the funds. Haha

Great, another sinkhole of money..

Picked up a 3D printer today -- Bambu P1S with the AMS, few spools of PLA, PETG, and some ABS, and now I'm ready to start creating and printing some interior parts.. first one will probably be that damned door card upper vent, just to see if it can be done. After that, only the sky and a 256mm^3 bed size is the limit.

Oh and it's for my wife's crafts too..

I am putting up a 10x10 storage building to get all of the car part boxes out of my dam house.......🤔 maybe I should have got a 20x20...... ROFL :ohdamn:
