I have an OEM oil pump housing that is slightly damaged in the pump mating surface. I have polished it down and block sanded it.

This looks really minimal IMO. I'm thinking the OEM unit slightly damaged would be better than many of these aftermarket units.

This is another motor I bought to replace the one I blew. It was running with the housing damaged like so...

Anyone think this would cause any problems? Would I be better off with a aftermarket pump housing?

If it's within spec^^^ then it's ok, I wouldn't worry about the chip.

doesnt look too bad. The only questions you have to ask yourself is; A- is it worth your time if it leaks ( removing the pullies, belts, timing components, ect... ), and B- is a $200 part worth your engine?

My theory is, something this important to the life of your engine shouldnt be gambled with. When in doubt replace, esp when it comes down to an oil pump. 200 bucks is alot cheeper then an engine rebuild. To answer your question i have bought many mitsu pumps in the past and recently i went the cheep way and bought a topline oil pump. It looked great, and performes just as well as the mitsu one so far, might save you some money.

that one is iffy. I edited this post because I said not to use it. How big is the piece missing?

I can also weld alum no problem. So filling in that spot is no big deal. I'll probably end up do that. Then just using a large piece of glass and some wet sand to level out the mating surfaces.

Thanks all...
