i was just wondering what most ppl use on new oil pumps.
the two i here about most about is the permatex copper spray and good rtv gasket maker.

out of opinon what do you use? :hmm:

I would use the gasket dry for the front cover! I've used both Gasket maker and Copper spray trying to stop leaks. If the block is straight the oil pump cover will seal with out any ads. You need to fill the oil pump gears with something! Assembly lube, oil or Vaseline! doesn't really matter. All it's doing is starting a suction, with out this suction the pump will cavatate and over heat, causing bearing failure! I do this step with an electric drill, you can attach a socket to the drill and turn over the oil pump gear, pre priming the motor before you do the timing.
