1992 awd turbo 6 bolt !!!I have a strange problem with the car? My engine decided to act like the balanceshafts were out of time . So i figuered the balance shaft belt broke but come to find out it did not . With the timing belt off of the car. The oil pump can only be spun with a wrench? Its like the balance shaft has seized up a little has anyone ever seen this happen ? It now feels like it has a horrible vibration from idle up . the motor still has good compression and no knock at all . Neither on my data logger? I just dont know what is wrong can the gears seize inside the oil pump? Or do you believe its the oil pump balance shaft some how broke?

PLease help with info or if youve been here before. Thanks

First I would not drive the car. I would tear that thing down and find out what is going on. Driving can cause more damage even starting it can. Possibly bad bearing where the shaft rides on. My friends did sort of the same thing. Destroyed all the bearings. I would check your oil pump and get rid of the balance shafts and do the eliminator kit and not have to worry about it. Just don't run untill you find the reason behind the problem.Check the oil pump and see if the gears are fine.:thumb:

look at ## timing belt! if you see any damage I would leave the car right where it sits.. (thats the way I saw that the oilpumpbearing is gone)

Tow it home and eliminate the balance shafts. Do it right and you won't be replacing a head with new valves.

Well i got the car home i trailered it. I see know damge from the outside of the pump. I beleive the oil pump balance shaft is trying to seize.
Can i leave the front shaft in and remove the back and put the stub on the back . Will that work? Of course i wont run a belt on the front shaft . I will remove the belt tensioner and belt and just leave the shaft in the block. will that work?

Been there. Had an oil pump with only 30k miles on it seize up in my '92 4g63. Car would squeal real bad on startup, just thought it was a belt. Nope, it was the oil pump dying. Eventually it seized completely. Once the pump was out of the car, couldn't even hardly be turned with a big wrench on it. Not sure why something that lives it's life full of oil would seize up like that, but it happens.

The pump is deffinetly no good and it threw a balance shat bearing on the rear shaft .I picked it up out of the pan. Ive decided to replace the oil pump, the front case, rod bearings and main bearings and flush the car out. Also im elminating the balance shaft i already got the kit.
