can someone tell me what's with this code thing?do i need it to have my radio operable or something because my radio doesn't work and there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with it(fuse..connections..etc)...any help would be appreciated...

It is a stupid security feature that the auto manufacturer included (when was the last time a stock radio was stolen). If it is asking for the code and you do not know it you will have to pull the radio and get the serial number off it and then the dealership will be able to look the code up for you.

you could go to the dealer, or you could pull the head unit and find the number on the back. thats what the dealer would do anyway. I had the dealer do it for me and they didn't charge me a dime and it only took about 5 min.

If you power up your radio it will say CODE on the display screen. So you will need to call a dealership and give them the serial number off of the radio. I didn't have to pull my whole unit out.....I just took off the bezel that goes around the radio & a/c controls and the # was on top of the head unit. Just jot that down and call (865)981-4400 ask for service. Hope that helps.

When i first got my car I had the same problem, since I didn't know much about it, I ended up taking it to the Mitsu guys and they charged me 65 for a f'n code. Probably the biggest rip-off of my life. I know a couple other people who got ripped for the same problem.

It's all good guys I took the radio to a dealership my friend said they gave the code for him for free and they did the same for me... The guy also confirmed me that the EVO is coming next year. Nice people there...

so the code is on the back of the unit itsself??? i just had to recharge my battery and i need hte code myself:) if i cant find it i will try satan.

I need help :p

i got a 97 stock radio w/ no code- can somone hook me up with it? (save a trip to the dealer)
also - will this just plug-n-play in a 1g?

i called andys mitsubishi, someone posted his number on this board somewhere. After talking him into giving the code over the phone, he gave me 2 codes.... 4637 and 8682, if you wantm you can give thouse a try but it probably wont work

hmm - i figured any 97 code would work, didnt know it would be that complicated.. i will try those 2 codes-- how about installing it into a 1g ? is it just plug-n-play?

is it an infinity cd player? if it is it won't work without the infinity amp.... also those codes won't work and you have 3x until the cd player locks and you have to leave it with no power on it for x number of days. call up mitsu and give them the serial number for the radio and ask if they can give you the code, if they want money call another dealership, you can find one that will give it to you for free

As another has stated, just call a dealer and told them that you bought the car and had no password for the CD Player. I did, and they gave me mine for free. I just called them over the phone, and they just told me to give them the serial and voila. I got my password a few minutes later.

Except...it doesn't help me again, cause I think I lost it, hahaha. Oh well. :p I guess I'll have to call them again when I do need it, hehehe.

Take the front bezel off and get the serial number off of the top of the deck. Some decks have the sticker in the front where you can see it. Others have the sticker toward the back and you have to pull the deck out. I can call my buddy at mitsu and get the unlock code for you. They should just give it to you for free. People work on their cars all the time. Face it that battery frees up valuable space in that tight spot sometimes. ;). Seriously, if they say you have to bring it in, that is BS! Email me the serial number off the top of the deck to ---> [email protected] and I will get it for you for free.

thanks all that been replying --- but i prob wont bother if i need a 2g amp to install it in a 1g -- i thought it was just plug-n-play

OK I youst got me a 96 ecplispse GS-T.
My prblem is that the darn radio wont work without a 4 digit code!!!
The radio looks spanking new and i would lioke to keep it so please dont tell me to get a new one.
So please can someone tell me if there is a WEBSITE , or someplace were i could find this code, and how to do it.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME:cry:

The best way I can tell you is to go to a dealer and they can give you the code that goes to your radio. Did you buy the car from an individual or a dealer? If a dealer they should be able to get it for you for free. I am not aware of any websites that offer that info. The main thing is to not input the wrong code in three times or it shuts it down completely and have to go through a bunch of crap to get the radio to accept a new code.

Well the thing thing is tha i live in Puerto Rico and bougth the car ina an used car dealership.
The car was imported, god knows from where in the US!
Is there a BACKDOOR CODE for this problem.
Can you or someone give me some phone# or somethig that I could call???
