When I start my car it almost always started screeching very loudly and I have to rev it to make it stop, the same noise also happens when I turn my wheel all the way . What is it? (1995 Eclipse RS)

Belt squeal. 2Gs are notorious for it. There's a million threads here all with the same complaint. I don't recall ever seeing a real fix aside from people using aftermarket stuff that sprays on or glides on(like white/powder deodorant). @99gst_racer had a fix he liked on his 2G but I can't remember what it was.

Notorious? No more so than ny other car I've owned. Tension the belts.

Notorious in the DSM world. I doubt some dude who owns a BMW is gonna be like "Yo dawg I heard about them 2G DSMs and their belt squeal..."

It takes 2 seconds to search for it and find a million threads if you want to fact check me. I found them all when my 1G had a belt squeal and I searched for it.

I think they're just more prevalent because 4g63s don't exclusively use serpentine belt(s) with autotensioners. Everything is totally manually so the belt stretches over time and has to be readjusted every now and then. Suddenly, it appears.

100% accessory belt. Too loose or needs replaced. Have been doing this so long now when i put a new belt on a dsm i tension it by feel of how much it "twists" when i try to turn it. Set the tension so you can turn it straight up and down, maybe a hair more. I cannot explain more as its just as acquired thing by doing LOL.

I can't remember what I did with my 2G 15 years ago, but my current 1G had a terrible belt squeal that just wouldn't go away. Belt tension didn't matter. I ultimately replaced the alternator and I got very precise with the alignment by machining my own spacers (Saturn alt swap). Zero issues with belt squeal now.

I've also been helping a buddy with a Foxbody build and he had this same issue. We suspected alignment, but a quick alternator swap quieted it right up.

I honestly believe that the two most common culprits are alignment and the condition of the alternator and it's shaft bearings.

I had an AC Delco Saturn unit on my 1g, squeeled if it was too loose of tension, but not once it was tightened, so you don't need custom spacers or anything wild in all applications. Not saying you didn't, it definitely worked for you

We are forgetting to mention here that the makeup of the belt itself is also a culprit. The material it's made of plays a large role in its grip and slip screaming.
