Rebuild, now tune 420a

Ok, I got done rebuilding my 420a project motor. All of my money is going into this car becuase I have this hunch that the 420a has a beastly crankshaft with a lot of growing room.
I have put some stock pistons in, then took them out and put in some JE race pistons (same compression) and Eagle H-beam rods, not sure if its a good combo. But anyway, I put it all back together and now it runs a little leaner than it used to, but i can feel the difference in power. I was setting up my GReddy EMS and I got out of the car, didnt have room so i shut the door and smash/pop/ crackle goes my GReddy. So i try to find my AEM ems and guess who has it, my brother in california "borrowed" it.

So as im doing this turbo set-up..how do i tune with my 420a??? Theres no maf.etc.
Should i jsut get my injectors, fuel pump in and turbo, wideband a/f, and a fuel pressure regulator?..Then what??

Whats the difference between dsmlink?
and a SAFCII or something?
Also i hear about a translator? what is that? like a maf translator, which then i will need to install a maf??

i dont even know if i can put a maf on there.

a SAFC lies to the ECU, tricking it in to giving it more or less fuel,

DSMlink actually changes the tune onthe ECU with the ability to give it more or less fuel, adjust for larger injectors, add an retard timing if needed

DSMlink is the way to go for sure, althought i am not sure if it works for you 420A guys


a MAF translator translates the signal from the stock mas whe nyou install a GM blowthru mas i believe it allows you to tune close to the same way a SAFC does, i could be wrong i have never used a Translator or a SAFC, i use DSMlink

then hook that into a translater that can alter my a/f ratio?? does this all hook into my ecu or wire in somewhere?

i dont think i have an eprom ecu on my 95 n/a...so dsmlink aint an option.

No, blow thru is like a GM 3.5" one that is mounted after the turbo/intercooler

not like a Mitsubishi one where it is befor the turbo

DSM link will not work with the 420a, SAFC don't waste your time.. If you are wanting something good to tune it with..Megasquirt EMS Kit - 420A - SymTech Laboratories

The 2gNT's ECU uses speed density calculations to measure airflow, so no MAF.

DSMlink is great if you have a 4g63 and a Mitsubishi EPROM ECU. You have a 420a with a Chrysler ECU. Use MegaSquirt, as the others have mentioned.

Yes megasquirt get that... its real cheap and and has amaizing tuning capabilities.

Ok, just reading up..I found megasquirt..559. Then theres a plug and play MS thats like an ecu..will this work for my 95 eclipse?? I read a forum saying it wouldnt but that was a long time ago! or should i just get the original MegaSquirt that "1slow97" linked.

Yeah the plug-and-play seems to take for ever. If you are capable of soldering you can install it. It takes some time but it's a fun learning experience. And there is a ton of help on the forums esp. msexstra.com Rs-autosport actually have a kit to convert a MS1 to MS2.
