Hi all,
Just thought i'd consolidate all my findings and experience into this thread for anyone else looking for this info. I replaced the license plate light bracket on my 97 spyder. It's pretty simple and straight forward, but here are some photos:
I bought the bracket from Miller Import, $20 and rust free. Just cleaned it a bit and primed it.
Heres the old rusted one.
The "new" one, primed.
Three bolts that basically hold it to the inside of the bumper, the bracket has built in threads. Reach under from the bumper, there should be more than enough space to get the bracket up there. Those square holes are for the inserts to screw the license plate in. Be conscious of these inserts when removing the plate originally.
Heres how it looks from inside the bumper. When moving the wires around be sure to place the license plate light harness on top of the the other (opposite of how I have it) or it will make mounting the lights to the bracket difficult cause they will pull the wrong way.
There are two small square clips on each side for the lights to screw into. These are inserted from the front not the back(top). Very simple, there you have it.
Hope this helps and clears some confusion about NOT having to remove the bumper.
