hello, I registered on the site to find some info on a turbo I purchased from a friend of mine. I got a big 16g turbo from him in july of 08.... anyways I came on here to see if yall can help me find out what type of 16g it is. Here are some pics of the turbo. There are no serial numbers on it so thats why I'm posting. Also how reliable is the turbo?

Thank you for you feedback in advance.

I hope the turbo cobalt is better than the supercharged version, that thing sucked pretty bad. Drove one and all the power was 2k-5k rpms, ran out of steam after that and then slammed into the rev limiter. On the second try, the shifter knob came off in my hand. Awful!

rofl at the shift knob.... the ss/tc is 10x better than the ss/sc although I've seen some sick ss/sc's that do low 12's. I've always loved the whine of the supercharger.

I say throw it in and turn it up to 40 psi!!!!:;)

and watch the motor fling lots of parts out whilr your at it haha.

its a nice looking car mate keep up the GOOD work dont let crap items break your car its not worth it in the long run!

Im new to building DSM's i have a 97gst with a MHI small 16G @16psi. i was just wondering how much of an upgrade the EVO III big 16G would be for me and how much can my stock 7bolt safely hold? will this turbo have similar spooling time? whats the max Hp of this turbo? i have a greddy FMIC, full Apexi exhaust, SAFC, EVC, MSD DIS-2, 550cc with high flow pump. answer are greatly appreciated

read this it will help abit to answer your questions!

and to your mods get new injectors ild say 650-850 and fpr. other then that sounds ok! do you have any gauges like air/fuel boost anything to warn you or your levels as you will want them before you go much further!

I'd think that you would be better off sellig it. I'm not sure if you know or not but the turbine housing inlet and outlet (o2 housing) are different from you standard T3 style. It might be kinda hard to find and exaust manifold with a Ecotec head flange and a Mitsu turbo flange.

If your still running the stock internals I wouln't push the boost past 10psi with that high compression engine. Build that Ecotech and you got a MONSTER ;)

an update, I sold everything I had... I just have the turbo left. A friend is looking for a well priced turbo and was just curious what yall would think about running 8psi. Since all that posted are running +20psi.

As for my build I'm buying a used Garret turbo kit for my cobalt from a guy on css.net... gonna push 10psi and aiming for somewhere in the 13s.
